2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mahomes' mechanics mean less when you have that type of arm strength.

It's one thing when you're Pisspants Manziel and can't push the ball well enough off your back foot, but Mahomes has enough zip to get it done.

That doesn't mean he doesn't need cleaned up with some good coaching, but it's not as preventative for a team to draft him like it was for someone like Manziel.

I'll say this about the picks @AZ_ talks about: I always find out about somebody who wasn't on my radar. I was a little proud of myself for hopping on board the Chad Hansen train earlier than other people - but George Kittle wasn't on my radar at all. Just watched some film that highlights his blocking... damn.

Just the best TE group I ever remember entering the NFL in the same year.

Half the reason I do it, honestly.

Just puts some new names out there to further the discussion.

Kittle is like a bigger Dallas Clark, he'd be a great fit.

If Johnny could clean up the off field stuff and had a pro arm and was pro sized i think he could have maybe made it.

Basically your comparison doesnt scare me because its like saying if my aunt had a dick she would be my uncle.

If johnny was bigger, stronger, better arm and no off field problems...well those are his issues, lol
There is obviously more to this than just physical traits (and mental health as you mentioned) was the main point I was making.

Mahomes is a very raw prospect.

Scenario 2:
1.12 - Solomon Thomas - DL - Stanford - After working with another "undersized" DT in Aaron Donald, DC Gregg Williams gets his likeness in Thomas. Even beat out some of Donald's combine numbers, because he's got elite mobility for a guy his size. Garrett, Thomas and Ogbah rushing the passer is an elite force.

I like it but Thomas will be long gone. Could see him going #2 to SF

People think Dobbs can start in the NFL and play at a high level? Interesting theory based on the fact that he made JT Barrett look like Joe Montana at times last year.

I think Mahomes is raw machanically but I see him process information quiclkly, make plays in and out of the pocket and create something out of nothing.

But his arm is A+++. He absolutely must sit at least a year, too.

Now you can say in hindsight this is nothing like Weeden, and I'd agree stylistically. They aren't similar QBs. But they definitely had similar arms. Mahommes at 12 goes 1 of 2 ways and I think it's way too likely it goes the way where in 5 years we say "I can't believe we fell in love with another huge arm in such a loaded draft!"

If Weeden was as young as Mahomes, he would have been a good bet too.

Mahomes is a risk. Show me someone in this draft that is not a risk. But looking at all the QBs, I think Mahomes has the highest ceiling and the most tools to be successful.

More experience than Trubisky.
More arm than Watson.
Better accuracy than Kizer.

To me, he should be QB1 in the draft.

"The Browns have had 16 different starting Quarterbacks."

Man, the glory days.

Realistically, who do you see falling to #12 that can be an immediate impact/perennial Pro-Bowl type player?

Mahomes is a risk.

But that is the point. Why take a "risk" QB at #12 when we still need to fill holes? Of course, we don't know who the hell is gonna be there at #12. I don't think Thomas will be there for us. If any one of Lattimore, Wilson, Howard, shit even Fournette/McCaffrey, I would take over Mahomes at that point. We can allllways trade up with the bevy of picks we have.

Just hard for me to reach on a QB at #12, when Kessler wasn't a total shit show (behind our OL, injuries + Erving) and the class next year could end up being fantastic. (Or we still have the option of Jimmy, possibly.)

Take a QB later or trade up, but we don't need any reaches with at least our first 2 picks in this deep draft.

Jamal Adams
Solomon Thomas
Cam Robinson
Mike Williams

I'm not big on Robinson considering the resources they've already poured into the line, but I'd happily take any of those other three at 12.
