2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ryan Grigson is fucking garbage in any capacity

I'd rather hire and pay a salary to a fucking jackolantern

I seriously think you'd be hard pressed to find many people worse at what they do than Grigson. Just a non sensical addition unless he is paying the Browns to come aboard

As a personnel guy/senior glorified scout, I don't hate it as much as most. He'll be under Berry, who worked with him previously.

Thus, Berry had a great idea of what he's getting and wanted him. I'm going to trust here. He cut his teeth as a scout, and rose through the ranks for a reason. Let's hope we see that reason.

Also, let's hope he's been humbled a bit. Not many people liked him much, it seems.

He wasn't garbage as a scout, which is what he'll be here, basically.

Him being garbage as a GM & decision maker doesn't mean he was or is garbage as a scout.

Plenty of front office personnel/coaches are great at lesser roles but fall on their face in the main role. That doesn't take away the fact that they're good at what got them the main position to begin with.

The Peter Principle.

Browns fans can be talked into anything :chuckle:

How so?

The only thing the guy has failed at is as GM.

He's not going to be the GM here, nor have any say in personnel decisions.

How is it bad or ridiculous that we think he can succeed in a role that he succeeded in prior to becoming GM?

"In 2012, Grigson was named the NFL Executive of the Year by The Sporting News. In that year's draft, Grigson took Andrew Luck first overall, then added tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen and receiver T.Y. Hilton."

I am not sure of the $ he is receiving, but give him time to actually scout some for us. I mean, as we all say every year, next years QB class is the best ever. And lo & behold, next years class, as of now, is stacked as shit.

This is just another voice/opinion in the group who does not have the final say. But it can't hurt to bring some experience in.

Don't hate it, don't love it. But I am okay with it.

Anything to know regarding Corey Coleman being down on the field for an extended period of time?

Hue said earlier that he fell on the ball. Not serious.

As Soda said, landed on the ball. He will be okay.

After hauling in a long catch during the 11-on-11 portion of Wednesday’s OTA, wide receiver Corey Coleman remained on the ground before walking off the field with a trainer. Jackson said the former first-round pick landed on the ball and was expected to be fine.

More notes:

1. “Nobody else on the field is throwing the ball the way that (Kizer) does,” Browns Daily’s Nathan Zegura admirably remarked of this performance.

Zegura also noted that while Kizer made the best throws, he also made the most mistakes and poor throws of the group.

2. Garrett, Peppers & Britt all sat out with minor, not serious at all injuries.

3. McCourty is currently working with the CB's

4. Former all-pro offensive linemen Anthony Munoz and Olin Kreutz attended Wednesday’s OTA. Browns offensive line coach Bob Wylie served as an offensive line coach for both players, working with Kreutz during the early part of his career with the Bears and Munoz near the end of his playing days in Tampa Bay.

Jackson, who had multiple stints in Cincinnati -- where Munoz played the bulk of his Hall of Fame career -- also has a strong connection to Munoz.

“Anytime we can get guys who have played football at a high level to come in and help with our players, I am all for that,” Jackson said.

It is a lot easier to get away with boozing while you're a scout than while you're a GM. Right Scot?

Sounds about right.

Sounds about right.

I'll take it. It sounds like he has all the tools to be a good NFL QB just needs to work on his decision-making. Not surprising for a rookie. All the QB's we've experienced as of late were "good decision makers" but rarely could win you a game on their own ability. Those guys are a dime-a-dozen. Raw ability, hopefully coupled with a strong work ethic (coach's responsibility), is a nice change of pace for once.

JFF and RG3 thank you for your kind words.

I should've mentioned ones that actually had a sample size of work. Not a burnout and a waste of athleticism.

Over 6'4... 235 lbs... Running threat... Almost 10 inch hands... Cannon for an Arm... Great deep ball touch... Very intelligent... Hard worker... Ohio boy... Corn fed.

I can get behind all of this. I'm glad he's showing out in practice, and I'm glad he's getting (limited) chances to work with the first-team offense already. He's clearly the most talented quarterback on our roster, and probably the best physical fit/talent combination we've had since '99 in terms of playing in this division.

The bad throws don't surprise me. The bad decisions don't surprise me. The inconsistency doesn't surprise me. If he works hard, that we can fix. I'm just glad he's flashed the ceiling even with his head still spinning. I love that he is Hue's personal project because I truly am believing he's going to turn him into an absolute stud. Hue himself has mentioned that he's never had such a talented block of clay to work with before. After reading the reports stating that Hue basically won't leave his side.... I just feel good about this.

I can't wait to see if he can be our long-term answer under center. This time might be the time we get it right.

That's what we said about Derek Anderson.

Assuming that mental errors and lack of consistency can be fixed is being overly optimistic. Both are dependent upon him having the right mental makeup for a QB, and we simply cannot know that yet. And if it was that certain, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did in the draft.

So while he has all the physical potential in the world, and very well may overcome whatever it is that leads to those bad throws, bad decisions, and inconsistency, he also may not.
