2017 Free Agent Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think they are going to go strong after a WR high this year in the draft. Maybe they go after a possession receiver in free agency. I do think they will target a TE in a very deep TE class to offset some of what Pryor brought, especially near the red zone.

Cooper Kupp is they guy to keep an eye on here. Could end up being one of the steals of the draft and the Browns got an extensive look at him at the Senior Bowl where he was impressive.

Kupp is too slow. He will never be anything more than a slot guy. And I prefer too many slot guys to Kupp.

Also, still trades are an option too.

His SPARQ is pretty low. I'd say that's disqualifying but Hollywood Higgins was horrid and they still took him. Kupp is closer to Payton than Higgins even.

Jordan Payton 40.7
Cooper Kupp 22.8
Hollywood Higgins 3.8

Those are NFL positional averages based on athleticism

I'd love to see us walk away with Evan Engram in the 2nd. Another guy we had the advantage of spending Senior Bowl time with. Then again, he seems to be rising quickly with that 4.4 forty time.

I wonder if the Browns have been involved in any talks with Morris Claiborne?

He graded out well PFF wise but the injury issues are certainly a concern. I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him here to help our secondary out.

I would hope they treat Haden like they did Thomas... get the man some top notch help.

I also hope Haden returns to the man he once was.

I'd deal Haden in a minute in the right deal.

Doubt there's much appetite for that.

I'd be somewhat surprised if there were much market for Haden given his cap number. He's just been a liability for 2 years now.

After this season the Browns can save a little over $10M by parting ways so I'd expect this to be Haden's last season with the team unless this turns out to be a renaissance year.

They ddint come hard after schwartz and he got insulted and left.

They should have given him a big offer to stay, not stupid big, but big enough to make him feel wanted. They felt they were negotiating against themselves until the offers started coming in and then it was too late.

Lesson learned. This did not happen with Pryor, we were his best offer, by far imo.

They didn't come hard after Mitchell Schwartz? The Browns gave him the highest offer he got..

The deal was taken by Schwartz's reps to other teams, who didn't bite, over a 12 day period wherein no contact was made with the Browns. Once Mitch realized Cleveland's deal was the best, he went back to take it and the Browns, having not heard from him for nearly two weeks, said the offer was no longer standing. Mitch is getting paid less in Kansas City than he would have in Cleveland.

In other news, 26 year old safety T.J. McDonald from Gregg Williams's Rams defense is still out there and coming off a good year in coverage.

Decent option. Only issue is he's suspended for the first two games in 2017.

Kind of weird how quiet it has been after our big Thursday.

Figured we'd be at least interested in a defensive piece or two outside of Jefferson.

I'm sure they are still interested. I think/hope they're still looking at secondary help as well as depth on the defensive line.

Joe Jaden is trash. If he isn't being flagged for holding, he's letting the receiver blow right past him for an easy pitch and catch.
