Yeah, i dont think this leapfrogs them over Toronto or Boston at all. Saric and Covington play a ton of minutes for them and are nice players.

So they refused 4 first round picks but accepted Saric and Covington, the type of players that can be drafted using those first round picks. There's gotta be more to that deal.

Not as proven as Toronto. I need to see more discipline from Simmons and Embiid to say that, but I think Boston is groaning. They thought they would be so good, but they have more than just LeBron to worry about this year.

It is definitely going to shift the balance of power and anyone in the top 5 are gonna be tough in the playoffs
True, Toronto will be tough. Mostly I'm happy about what this means for Boston. They were all ready to take over the East once LeBron left but now they've got 3-4 teams they have to worry about and one of those teams just added a top 15 player in the league.

4 Picks in the 20-30 range. Saric has good upside and a lot of talent, Covington is a tough hard nosed defender and a solid catch and shoot guy. They likely didn't wanna tank with a 22 year old KAT locked up next 5 years. Saric and Covington both have untapped potential and can help them now and in the future. Clearly they think they can win and both of those guys will help them for the next few years where as the picks from the rockets might not convey for 7 years.

Ability to send him to Eastern Conference. Yes I know it doesn't make sense but owners think that way.

Also it involved taking Brandon Knights contract who hasn't played since February 2017 and also
just had another surgery. They also have Teague and Rose so there isn't minutes available to rebuild his trade value once he is healthy.

I think that’s a better haul than what SA got for Leonard, imo

yeah, losing Saric and Covington is a big loss for them. In Covington and Bayless they lose two of their more reliable floor spacers/three point shooters this year. Saric based on last year's performance is also a good floor spacer and has the potential to be a classic stretch 4. Butler is better than any of those guys but not sure how much better he is than all of them. Still, he should be very dynamic leader, they should improve but I'm not sure by how much.

One thing this shows: no one wants to get anywhere near Fultz. I'm sure Fultz + draft picks was their first offer. Minny could use youth at PG (Teague and Rose both on the back side of their careers) but was not interested.

Philly definitely needs more. They had Ilyasova and Belinelli last year as well.

I still think Philly is 3rd in the East, but all of a sudden they look like a much bigger threat to Golden State. 2nd and 3rd round of the playoffs are going to be great. I'd say Toronto/Boston and Milwaukee/Philly unless Indiana can somehow stay above Boston.

So Philly could really use Korver right?

We’ll even throw in JR. all we need back is a 2030 protected 2nd round pick.
