2019 Spring Training

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the bullpen is going to shake out like this...

Hand, Clippard, Perez, Olson, Cimber, Otero and Wilson.

Next guys up: Wittgren, Edwards, Goody, Anderson

Let's hope they all win it outright and not by default at the end of the day. We should break camp with the best 7 in camp and hopefully the amount of guys (I think its 28 at the start of camp) that are trying for the 6 BP spots, should make it a very good camp!

Going with 12 pitchers to start the season or 13? 4 or 5 OFs? What ya think of the Hanley signing?

I think we both agree on its a good probability of Bieber in minor league camp to start the season to keep his arm loose otherwise he won't pitch for awhile, so one of those 4 is starting the season in the bullpen for us.

I think they'll go with 12 pitchers on Opening Day. 4 starters and 8 relief pitchers for the first 2 weeks until they need Bieber to start.

Martin, Allen and Luplow are OF locks. Presumably one of Naquin or Joyce (I'm picking Joyce) will make it to give them 4 and Bauers can play out there if need be to make 5.

If Hanley comes in and doesn't look totally washed, I think there's a spot for him as a DH/PH against LHP. This team needs right handed bats in the absolute worst way, so he has a chance to stick.

If I had to guess right now...

v. RHP
1B: Bauers
RF: Allen
CF: Martin
LF: Joyce
DH: Santana

v. LHP
1B: Santana
RF: Luplow
CF: Allen
LF: Bauers
DH: Hanley

Essentially Joyce/Hanley platoon and Martin/Luplow platoon even though neither combo would play the same position.

Bauers and Allen play every day.

I imagine Martin will be an everyday player in center

How do you feel SS and utility will work out?

Part of me still feels like Luplow has a chance to win the everyday LF, but more than likely he will get the RH Of spot nonetheless since we really do not have anyone else outside of Mercado, Barnes and Thompson in camp. Even just going through the organization we only have switch hitter Krieger then RH Carter and Call (and neither of them are proven at AA) everyone else in the organization hits straight from the left side. If Hanley doesn't work out, I think essentially the Jay Bruce style of trade probably will happen mid season if Luplow doesn't hit my expectations for him.

I really do not like the RH options for this team right now. The EE trade was probably the best thing long term for the organization, but we did lose a pure hitter in Yandy and a power hitter in EE in the trade. Losing Gomes as well isn't the best of options either in a sense, but now we have to live with it! I still wish we brought in a few more RH bats to play the OF. I know Flaherty can play out there as well, but hit bat scares no one.

He has been given the starting CF spot, but his career numbers vs lefties isnt good at all. He will sit against hard lefties while Allen takes CF and Luplow LF/RF.

Hanley getting $1M for a majors deal.

Logan Forsythe, by comparison, will make $2M if he makes the Rangers.

Indicative of how the league views Ramirez, so I'm actually less confident in him for some reason.

Indians lineup today:
  1. Leonys Martin, CF
  2. Max Moroff, SS
  3. Carlos Santana, 1B
  4. Kevin Plawecki, C
  5. Trayce Thompson, DH
  6. Brandon Barnes, LF
  7. Daniel Johnson, RF
  8. Yu-Cheng Chang, 3B
  9. Ernie Clement, 2B
Can't find the starter anywhere.

He probably will be, but I don't think he should be.

With 8 years in the bigs at this point a guy like Martin is what he is against LHP. I would rather see if Allen or Bauers can handle playing every day over a guy in Martin who has clearly shown over a long enough period of time that he can't.

Just my two cents.

I agree, I'd rather see Allen out there. But ultimately, I think they'll bite the bullet on Martin's lack of offensive production vs. LHP knowing that excellent CF defense will come with it.

Hentges has some ridiculous stuff. Just needs to figure out where it’s going.

Not seeing any TV for this, am I missing something? Or was this just a general comment.
