2019 Spring Training

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe with all of that offensive firepower the Padres have now we could see a trade with the Indians for one of our pitchers (hopefully Bauer). Maybe during the season?

The Padres have to get off Wil Myers deal, but I wouldn’t touch that without some serious cash coming back.

Wonder if the Machado signing cracks the door slightly open for them to part with Tatis Jr. in a deal for an ace. Probably not, but who knows...

Negative.

That left side of Tatis and Machado for the next five years will be absurd.

If they can find a starting staff, they will be right there for that division.

Eh...dude is certainly non-traditional in many ways and possibly needs to lay off social media for a while, but I don't understand all the backlash from this particular quote. So the guy tells girls up front he doesn't want anything serious. I couldn't care less about his romantic interests/intentions. It isn't like he is beating up women or getting arrested.

It's not that big of a deal to me that he's saying this stuff to chicks. The part that is strange to me is that he openly talked about this to a reporter. Weirdo.

He's the one who said, "private life is private."

It's not a big deal, I'm more concerned with how he pitches this year. There's just so much noise going on with him off the field, would not surprise me if he struggles.

All the Machado deal tells me is, enjoy whatever years we have left of Lindor. It's sad that is how I view it but if Manny is getting that kind of money, Frankie might get 25% more.

Unless the Dolan's are the owner of that unclaimed $1.5 billion powerball ticket, there's a less than 0% chance he's gonna be here once he hits FA.

I don't know what potential offers were on the table, obviously nothing good enough for us to jump on, but I would've been down for moving Bauer this offseason.

Dude's a douche and I think it's a matter of time before he does something bad enough to get suspended by the league/team. He's a headcase, and if he wouldn't have pitched at a Cy Young level last season, I feel like we'd all be about done with him at this point.

He better keep up his success this year, or I bet he's gone deadline time.

:chuckle:

This is a laughable take. He's never done anything that would have him anywhere close to being suspended by the league/team.

I'm fine with trading him for a haul because we know he's not going to sign here (or anywhere) long-term, but your opinion of his personality shouldn't play into this at all.

Right, at worst he's an unapologetic weirdo that is obsessed with pitching. He's not particularly likable but I don't think he's a bad person.

He's coming off a career year and has been a huge resource for guys like Clevinger and Bieber

Using his unique method of training, Bauer is on the edge of belonging to the top
tier of starting pitchers in MLB.

He is producing at an elite level between the lines and makes the Tribe a better
team.

Who cares if he is an odd duck off the field? Social media is just so much noise.

What makes him expendable are his intentions for only signing one year contracts.

The big question is how much his trade value is influenced by the noise of his
personality.

Sports fans and media are always on the lookout for colorful personalities but the
less an individual player conforms to the fraternal norms, the more they are
portrayed in a negative tone.

I hope he does win the 2019 Cy Young, is the WS MVP and we all celebrate.

Then trade him.

1) Was sportscoach really taking jigo seriously a couple pages back? :chuckle:
2) Bauer's being Bauer. That article basically said Bauer knows what he wants, and is upfront about it. Just because it's not how you (or most people) behave shouldn't mean we ridicule and attack the guy. I wish everyone was as honest as he--it's definitely preferable to being a dishonest dick.

Trevor Bauer is an obnoxious, immature man-child who happens to be blessed with a golden arm, an extreme knowledge of biomechanics and how those two things intersect in relation to throwing a baseball.

Great pitcher, but he's about as likable as a piss filled diaper.

Bauer is a piece of work, but most of what he does is harmless. Twitter spats, 69 jokes...dumb but harmless. If he pitches like he did last year prior to getting hurt, he's a huge asset to this team. It might be worth dealing him next winter for a great offer, but no way do I move him to move him.
