Austin Ward from Rivals has been adamant for months that the plan has been for Smith-Njigba to play this season. He does not want to shut it down. Again, this is assuming they make the playoff. If they fall short, then I would imagine the plan changes and he begins draft preparations.

So here we are again finishing 2nd in the Big Ten but having to watch the 4th place Big Ten team in the Conference Championship game.

We should be able to control our own destiny for a playoff spot and instead we have to sit and hope USC loses.

So something I've come to realize is that Day has been coaching like a chickenshit for quite awhile now. It was hard to see at first but it has gotten progressively worse over the last couple years. He was significantly more aggressive with Fields than he is with Stroud. Our offense is significantly more suited to throw the ball and yet Day insists on running 50% of the time. It's just bizarre...almost like he doesn't trust Stroud. I wonder if he throws a lot of picks in practice or something? Day even mentioned wanting to avoid a turnover in his postgame presser...he's very clearly coaching scared and I don't get it.

I don't really know where we go from here other than praying he pulls his head out of his ass. It's like something broke his aggressive style between 2020 and 2021 and it just continues to get worse. The Penn State game this year truly encapsulates this; should have won that game by 40 but based on how Day called the game for 3+ quarters made it a nailbiter...if the talent gap wasn't so massive it would have been a loss. The talent gap with Michigan wasn't large enough to overcome this so it did result in a loss. My Dad said it best after the game: "Day let his Ferrari sit idle for the entire game"...

Feels like he never gave this team a real chance. If we're lucky enough to get a spot in the CFP, I hope to God he just says "fuckit" and goes full air raid. At least go down swinging with everything you got.

nobody thought we would win against Miami or Bama/Ducks those other years...
