Dashaun Watson and Jacoby Brissett in 17 games : 19 TDs and 11 INTs

In other words, they were Baker Mayfield playing with a severe injury, who went for 17 TD 13 INT in 14 games in 2021.

Yesterday was a meaningful game going in. It was one of those games that does nothing, but something in the grand scheme of things, and they failed the test. You saw no cultural change type stuff.

I'm excited over change at DC, but that's it.

With yesterday's loss, next year's opponents are set (for the most part). I'm disappointed, as my group of season ticket holders were already planning our Vegas trip, we get Denver instead. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up losing a home game to international travel, as we haven't had to do that recently. Maybe the London Jags or Cardinals/49ers in Mexico City.

Home:
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Tennessee Titans
- Arizona Cardinals
- San Francisco 49ers
- New York Jets
- Chicago Bears
- AFC North

Away:
- Houston Texans
- Indianapolis Colts
- Los Angeles Rams
- Seattle Seahawks
- Denver Broncos
- AFC North

Mayo a 3-4 guy?
I think people hung up on "Is this defensive coordinator a 3-4 guy or 4-3 guy" are living decades in the past.

Nobody really runs only one thing, and 7 guys up front isn't even base anymore.

But, to answer your question, Mayo has experience both playing and coaching in New England, where they run a mix of 3-4 and 4-3 packages which turn into 4-2 or 3-3 looks when being run out of nickel, which is the new base.

No matter who we bring in, I don't expect them to ask Myles Garrett to play linebacker, or to move inside like the old-school 3-4 defenses featuring guys like Richard Seymour.

Jerod Mayo would be just fine putting together front-seven assignments based around our personnel--and if he isn't, then he won't get the job.

You aren't excited for Watson's future?

To me, he looked way better in these six games than I expected. After being out for two years, I thought he was going to look like one of the worst QB's in the NFL.

He looked great at times. There didn't seem to be any physical rust after the first week or two.

When you talk offense, the biggest worry for me is the offensive line.
  1. Jedrick Wills hasn't progressed as expected. We see flashes of what he can do, but he's never been a consistent player.
  2. C needs to be addressed. Whether that's Pocic or someone else, we can't have Froholdt playing.
  3. Wyatt Teller, after playing like one of the best guards in football and inking a massive contract, was one of the worst guards in football this year. We need him to bounce back.
  4. Jack Conklin needs to stay healthy.
Those are a lot of issues. Personally, I want to see two centers (For example, re-sign Pocic and draft a backup in the seventh round)

I want to see a viable guard brought in who can backup Bitonio/Teller, or step in for Teller if he continues to suck.

I want a swing tackle that can grow into Conklin's position--and I don't think James Hudson is that guy (but I'm open to being proven wrong).

I feel pretty confident in the O-Line bouncing back next season.

Forget where I saw it, but the Browns ability to never put a good season together is only matched by the Detroit Lions.

Since 2000, the Browns have appeared in 3 playoff games, tied for last with Detroit.

Teams I normally think of as "bad" like Washington (6), Jacksonville (6), and Houston (10) have actually shown the ability to run into a good season from time to time.

Jfc get it together.
This is why it’s so weird to me how many excuses the team gets for underperforming

People think rebuilds take 5+ years and long stretches of no playoffs is normal

It’s only the case for 2/32 franchises. It shouldn’t take this long

The Browns have definitely been a disaster

But it's compounded by the fact that we have 2 of the most consistent teams in football in our division. The Steelers and Ravens have the 2nd and 5th best winning percentage since 2002 (when the AFC North is what it is now). And the Bengals, who rank 18th, have won the AFC North 6 times, tied for Baltimore, since 2002

Colts rank 4th, Titans 15th, Texans 26th, Jags 30th
  • Jags were 51-45 from 2002-2007. 76-166 since, which is last in the NFL
  • Noting all of the Texans playoff appearances were from 2011 (after Peyton left Indy) to 2019
  • Colts were 109-35-1 from 2002-2010 with Peyton Manning. 96-97-1 since
Eagles 6th, Cowboys 10th, Giants 20th, Commanders 28th

Or maybe the Steelers and Ravens have stayed good because they get to play us twice a year.

Feels very Cleveland Browns that we:

1) Hire Flores.

2) He performs well but Stefanski really sucks.

3) We fire Stefanski and promote Flores.

Can we revisit something?

The Browns fired Joe Woods Monday morning and if not for the tackiness of HOU who fired Lovie Smith on Sunday Night, Joe Woods would've been the first firing on Black Monday which is the day that coaches get fired.

Remember earlier in the season when everyone wanted Woods gone after like week 4 but it started to become clear that this FO does not act and react on the impulse of fans and media. They have their process and they stick to it. Even if firing Woods in season would've been seen as the right move by most of us the team stuck to their process.

So on Black Monday Joe Woods gets fired before all of our local media (lol) are even awake to report it.

So are people ready to stop calling for immediate fan reaction type moves with this FO? Have we not seen enough evidence with how they handled Baker, OBJ, Clowney, and Joe Woods to know that they are not going to cave in to the crowd noise?

If we’re looking at a black Monday firings only, he was the first.

They fired Lovie yesterday. ;)

I don’t think when people are voicing their frustrations with the team/Woods they’re expecting Berry to be reading Browns Facebook comments and taking action…

On the Lovie matter: Interesting he was chopped rather quickly, and I can't help but be reminded that someone that used to play for that team once loudly criticized them for their hiring practices....
In fairness I think that former player was referring to the member of the FO who told him the NDAs would do the trick.
