2024 Guardians Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would like to see Freeman in the leadoff spot. Or in the very least against LHP.

His bad BABIP luck will only last so long if he keeps doing what he's been doing. Splitting Florial vs RHP and Freeman vs LHP works for me as well.

Yeah, I like this setup.

Allows to PH with Fry at the top when they bring in a LHP and Florial for Freeman when it's a RHP late in close games.

BTW, 8 of the 9 hitters today are 26yo or younger

Schnee's gotta be getting more and more tempted every day to pack up his bags and head across the Pacific.

Schneeman doesn't even have enough minor league time to be a free agent yet if I remember correctly...

Call this guy up...

Ain't going to happen no matter what we hope for. Notice the INF/OF designation. He would have been perfect for Kwan. Yet, they are figuring out what they have in Florial, Arias, Rocchio, Brennan and yes Laureano.

Just looking at the last 6 games, notice how little our subs are starting
Fry and Hedges - 1 game each (on same day even)
Laureano - 2 games (and one on Sunday before calling up Manzardo)
Arias - 3 games

Manzardo going to get a lot of DH roles. Arias giving Gim, Roc and Jose a day off. And, then Laureano doing the back-up OF role. Schneeman wouldn't get what he needs to prove himself. And, be aware, Tena is starting to heat up 15 for 39 in last 10 games. Only thing off is 2 BBs vs 8 Ks and little power. Yet, if Arias or Rocchio bow out of this dog fight (or really kittens toying with each other - no one standing out), he will probably get the call (due to being out of options at year-end).

I hear there's this guy named Ohtani that would be an outstanding leadoff hitter for us.
Yeah, very difficult choice between Ohtani and de la Cruz, but Ohtani will be able to pitch next year so he would get the edge in my book. Glad we got that problem solved.

And when Kwan gets back he can move to the #9 spot so he's on base ahead of Ohtani, Jose, and Josh.

Freeman does have a .378 OBP against lefties so why not lead him off against them? But that .181 BA against righties needs to improve. Last year he hit .266 against them. What's going on?

Florial is 3-for-7 against lefties with two doubles but .180 against right-handers in 61 AB's. Must be a small sample anomaly.

I am just going to say it...

I think it is quite possible we goofed in calling up Manzardo. Probably should've gone with someone already on the 40 man like JRod or Tena.

And Schneemann is doing everything to get a crack.

Oh well. Here's to hoping Manzardo catches fire so when they demote him to manipulate his service time, I can boo that too.

Just happy to see Manzo put it in play at this point. I've never seen a guy take so many pitches. He wont swing until there's two strikes. Still they can let him play for another week or so and send him down and play the service time game.
