This trade addresses needs for all three teams, and with Sacremento going down the toilet right now and the risk of losing Peja in the offseason this gives them a kickstart to their rebuilding process.

Cleveland gets a big in the paint who with Z will form the best big man combo since Duncan/Robinson.

NY moves a very promising rookie and an expiring contract but gets an all-star/3pt shooting champ, veteran pg (snow) and a big who can do dirty work.

Cleveland Trades:
Snow (5.4)
Gooden (4)
Pavlovic (1.2)

Cleveland receives:
Brad Miller (8.75)

Sacremento trades:
Miller (8.75)
K. Thomas (6.1)
Peja (7.6)

Sacremento receives:
Frye (2.2)
Hardaway (15.75)
Pavlovic (1.2)
Gooden (4)

NY Trades:
Frye (2.2)
Hardaway (15.75)

NY Receives:
Snow (5.4)
Peja (7.6)
Thomas (6.1)

It works under the new CBA.

WHY DO THIS??

CLE - snow's contract sucks, pavlovic isn't being used, gooden is as good as gone next season. Miller gives the cavs 15/7/5 a night, and can play pf or c. Rotate with marshall and anderson and the frontcourt is great.

SAC - Peja has essential told the team he is gone next year, so they get value for him. They are in rebuilding mode anyway. By moving miller and thomas, they drop $85Million in long term contracts off their books, not to mention older guys. By getting Frye and Gooden back in return they start a quick youth movement. Frye is having a great rookie year, and attended U. of Arizona - near by. The maloof's get away from luxury tax area by lowering their cap by over $13 million next year. They can resign gooden if they want, they can do a sign and trade, or let him go entirely. Pavlovic gives them a potential replacement for peja - not nearly as good, but same position. Their record will be about 5 games worse with this lineup, but they aren't making the playoffs anyway and they kickstart their youth movement and rebuilding.

NY - Money is almost no object to the Knicks, and Larry brown really wants Eric Snow. While they lose Frye - they already are stacked in the frontcourt, quantity not quality. Peja is an all-star and 3pt champion, so he will add to the overall skill their, and thomas is an upgrade to a few of their overpaid and underskilled pf's, granted he is overpaid a bit, but he is much more consitent, and a harder worker than rose, taylor, etc.

The Kings would have to see several picks to make this work for them.

Ben,

Do you see the value in dropping $85 million in long-term deals and replacing those 2 guys with youngsters of comparable skill?

I hear you on the picks though, a couple 1st rounders would have to be added to grease the wheels on this.

Trimming payroll is one thing, trading your core players for basically Frye and expiring deals is another. Frye would have to be the second coming of Shaq.

Just look at what the Cavs give up and what they recieve. They give up Gooden and garbage for an all-star player. That tells you major amounts of picks are needed.

Sorry, but Sasha Pavlovic is not comparable skill to Peja.

Sacramento would be giving up the two all-stars that they have for a rookie having a good season, a guy who's been moved a lot and a free agent after the season, an unproven talent (at best) and cap space in Penny's expiring contract. While they probably do need to rebuild, I don't think the Maloof's would do that without at least two 1st rounders.

I don't think the Knicks would trade Frye. I like the basic idea, but my read on the Knicks situation is that Frye is a building block for them.

Not a bad idea to throw up, but I have major reservations that NY would trade Frye as aaronr mentioned, and like George mentioned, who is our point guard without Snow?

I agree with some of my fellow posters... Frye is probably the only untouchable on the Knicks...

no this is not the time to make a trade...

we have to live without zee, gooden and hughes out and still win

i would be happy with a deal that brought Bibby to C-Town. not that Miller isn't a good player but the Cavs really cause themselves a promblem at the PG with that deal.

Trade just doesn't make much sense for Sacto...

Trading Peja.. alright, I can see that happening. But Brad Miller? I can see him staying there at least until his contract is up. He was their project/success.

If they go into rebuilding mode... I see them keeping Brad Miller, Mike Bibby, and Bonzi Wells. Everyone else should be expendable.

You just don't trade away talent at the center position for peanuts.

Some issues with your comments people...

1. Brad Miller was Indiana's project/development, he wanted more money than Indiana was willing to give him. Their mistake, he is far better than any 2,3, or 4 they have except for Jermaine O'Neal. (Artest is not included b/c he is onhis way out).

2. Miller's contract will run into his retirement, he will not play after it, except maybe for 1 more year for a contender, still not likely, he will be in his mid-late thirties by then.

3. Channing Frye is 10 years younger than Miller. He is a very solid rookie center, easily top 2 rookie big men in nba.

4. I do agree that Sacremento ewill need to receive 1 or 2 first round picks to facilitate this trade and make it a reality. 2007 picks not 2006 - unless Sac. wants immediate help - it is widely agreed that this draft 2006 is deep by weak at the top, 2007 will be a different story, b/c of the high school rule affecting it.

5. Sacremento drops a ton of salary here, over $85 million in long-term salaries.

6. Sacremento maintain's depth in the frontcourt - Abdur Rahim, Williamson, Gooden, and Frye

7. If it is necessary, Cleveland can do a side trade with Chicago first for either their pick of NY's pick (cleveland trades drew gooden to chi for 1st rounder and chris duhon) and then ship the 1st rounder to Sacremento in this deal. Both picks chicago has are on pace to be lottery picks, and sacremento's pick will be top 10 with this new roster.

8. Everyone benefits, NY in the short-term, Sac - in the long-term, and Cleveland as well.

Rotate with marshall and anderson and the frontcourt is great.

And the back court sinks to a new low.. This is basically giving up on this season. Will not happen. You all forget also that Marty is a long term asset. I guarentee he will play minutes at PF as often as at center.

Right now we need to address back up Center to minimize Z's minutes, and a future point guard who is the right size. (Wilks is not the guy).

CLEVEROCKS - can you read?

Marty A. is not involved in these plans whatsoever. Anderson is Anderson Varejo, and Marshall is Donyell Marshall. They would be backing up Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Brad Miller.

These 4 would be the most dominant front line in the NBA.

You all are so worried about the pg situation.

WIth Damon Jones, Mike Wilks, Larry Hughes (when he returns) and Lebron James we have the PG situation comparable to what it is now.

Lineup would be...

pg - Damon Jones
sg - Larry Hughes
sf - Lebron James
pf - Brad Miller
c - Zydrunas Ilgauskas

bench - donyell marshall, anderson varejo, mike wilks, luke jackson, ira newble, alan henderson, marty a.
