2) James tried to run an ad in the Plain Dealer and they turned it down.

What? That's the first time I'm hearing that.

James ran an ad in the Akron Beacon Journal (2 days after Z took out his ad in the PD) thanking Akron, and had no mention of Cleveland whatsoever. That made me think he had no intention of doing the same for Cleveland fans.

Oh you didn't see the invisible link he posted?

It was first reported by WFNYScott on 7/15. He ran the ad in the ABR in August.

We talked about it here:

The ad never ran. There's a comment in the thread that LRMR may have pulled the ad, but I remember reading that the PD rejected it. Reportedly $28000 for a full page ad...

We're supposed to believe the Plain Dealer, who is strapped for cash, turned down 28k for a 1 time, 1 page ad.

Right

You're free to *think* whatever you want. I'm just telling you what reportedly happened.

Why would he want to believe what reportedly happened? Much more convenient for him to further his bitterness towards #6 by making up his own facts.

Nice to see you've learned your lesson about personal attacks.

Tell me how it makes sense for the PD to turn down that type of money.

Because everything has to make perfect, logical sense.

Right?

Just because things don't add up in your eyes, doesn't mean they aren't true.

Fiscal sense? No reason
Common sense? No reason
Post Decision sense? See Dan Gilbert's comic sans babbling, see reaction to anyone who had a positive thing to say about James post July 2010 etc...

As Va Jon concluded each person will have to determine what they want to believe, but there are reasons for either "side"

So your best argument is "Well, sometimes shit don't make sense"

Wow.

Why do I need an argument? You're basically saying you refuse to believe what is reported because...the PD would never in your opinion turn down the ad because it's money in their bank. This line of thinking is so straight, with no wiggle room for any logical adjustment whatsoever, it's like..you've got your eyes set on this thing and nothing will allow you to believe otherwise.

You're going to need more than just your personal opinion if you want people to agree with you that there is a big lie out there and there was never a PD ad proposed. Honestly, not that I care one bit. Whether there was an ad or not doesn't suddenly justify The Decision or anything of the sort. But I still find this line of thinking to be irrational.

It was reported by WFNY, and not corroborated by anyone else. WUCK, in that thread, mentioned that. WFNY was also the blog that reported Izzo was going to accept the Cavs job.

So not only does it not make sense, it also lacks a credible source. There is no reason to believe it.

I thought I remembered hearing it as common fact back when this shit went down, but I could be wrong if it's only WFNY reporting it. Has anybody even bothered to follow up on the story?

Probably not, since like I said it's a moot point and was years ago. If it's just one source reporting it, it's certainly possible it isn't true but I don't see it as outlandish to believe it is true.

Everyone reported that he and Gilbert were discussing the possibility, and Izzo admitted they did, but WFNY reported he was coming.

Perhaps you don't follow the PD, but they have been hemorrhaging money, like many print media outlets, since the rise of e-news. There's been talk of going down to 3 days-a-week home delivery. Not accepting $28,000 for a 1 page ad that would sell a boatload of copies? It defies all logic.
