A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It blows my mind that people can still criticize and and undervalue Branes' talent after he continues to hit big shot after big shot and lead his team in scoring. This kid is the real deal and I for one think we need to get him even if that means trading up after taking irving. I also am strating to think about taking barnes over irving. I know most of view thinks thats crazy talk especially with the brilliant ten games irving has played. Barnes is a great competitor and thats what we need. A guy to step up in big games.

I was thinking the same thing , for the people who don't want Barns with the Clipper pick don't worry, He want last that long he's a top 5 pick . I want take him over Irving but everybody else i would think long and hard.

People have to look beyond the game here and there when a player is hitting shots, particularly streaky players.

When he's not hitting shots, what is Barnes doing? He's not going to the line or creating shots for others. Anytime he tries to attack the paint, he struggles consistently with his ball handling. Is see limited explosiveness off the bounce and in the league he'll be finishing over 6'10 players and above.

Rebounding and defending?

That's why he needs to stay one more year. He has great potential, but is way too inconsistent. With that being said, this draft class is one of the rawest classes in a while talent wise. A lot of these players need to stay in school another year.

Barnes is having the best shooting game of his career by far.

36 points on 12-17 FG, 6-8 threes, and 6-7 FTs.

One thing I do like about him is that he's certainly unafraid of taking a big shot.

What does he go to when spot up jumpers arent falling?

Nice game from Barnes tonight. Still question his ballhandling - he look great on catch and shoots but he doesn't look comfortable being pressured if he's handling the ball. I'd also note that this is only the 2nd game in his last 7 where he's shot over 50% of the field: streak shooters look great when they are on so you better be careful judging them solely on thos games.

Here at the game and Batnes has been dominant.

Rebounding and defending?
You have wings that litter every draft who are corner catch and shoot guy's that can defend.

Let me go in detail... I think Barnes is poor man's Rudy Gay offensively. Gay has a bit more length and can put it on the floor better.

Barnes is the better defender. But I want to see more finishing at the rim and more consistency with his shot before I buy his hype.

What does he go to when spot up jumpers arent falling?

Offensively, if his jumper isn't falling he doesn't appear to be able to do a whole lot else yet. He is young and I assume his ball handling can improve, but he's certainly not going to wow anyone with an explosive first step anytime soon.

I will say, he will work at his game and seems to have dat Tigerblood.

If he falls out the top 5, he has great value.

Wow what a game. Irving was shooting this morning and looks just as fast as ever. Very good game by Barnes. He had some very strong drives to the hoop. Shame he won't be there when we use our second pick.

I don't see a great difference between Harrison Barnes and Jordan Hamilton other than the pedigree coming into the season.
