A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
These guys are the first wave of guys who have seen how NBA teams throw away guys who they havent fully developed or given time to develop properly. Coach Williams has two recent freshmen in Brendan Wright and Marvin Williams who he can point in support of this.

I'll have to see this to believe it. The trigger for these guys in the past has always been a promise that someone will take them in the lottery, or at least the first round. At that point they are guaranteed millions and they just wouldn't be who they are if their ego wasn't telling them that they won't go the way of Wright/Williams.

The threat of a lockout and the fact 1st round picks are only guaranteed 2 years these days, however, may lead some of them to stick it out.

I think our days of seeing what Tim Duncan did at Wake Forest is gone by the wayside.

Timmy was keeping a promise to finish school, not staying in school to work on his game.

Hate to say I told you soooooooooooooo
(not you in particular, I'm just saying that to anybody who thought Barnes was going to declare)

I think this is "friendship" thing people seem to think Barnes and Irving have is a little off. If they were such good friends, why didn't Barnes and Irving both end up in Chapel Hill?

THANKS.

UNC fans are delusional if they think Barnes is coming back... Barnes is declaring, you can bet the house on that... Of course right now any player is going to say they are coming back especially when their team is currently deep in the tourny...

And also Irving was quoted calling Barnes his big brother last year, I'd say it is pretty safe to say the two are close...

I too think that Barnes will stay in school. The guy comes from IOWA! If Duke didnt have Austin Rivers coming next year, and if he hadnt had the major toe injury, I would have said that Kyrie Irving might have stayed another year as well.

i dont think its the teams fault these guys never developed..i think the player is ultimately responsible for their development. wright could get in the gym, learn to shoot, become a better ball handler or defender, same with williams

It will be interesting to see what the Kendall Marshall effect will be if there is one on the UNC prospects when they come out. He's looked like damn good college PG and really puts a lot of points on a platter for guys like Zellner and Barnes to score. Unless you get luckly to play with a Chris Paul, to be a really good pro you have to be the one creating shots whether it is in the post or on the perimeter. Right now it's really Marshall who runs that offense when it's clicking

but the point is he stayed.

How so? He made a promise to his mother and she passed away one day before his 14th birthday. That could happen with any player at any time. It's not a precedent, it's not an example. Timmy may have given up perhaps $6m+ to honor the memory of his Mother. That's amazing, but if his Mom knew what was at stake, it's possible even she would have told him not to stay in school.

Zeller.

Hahaha, no man not at all. I'm just being a Name Nazi. No need to switch off the Duke disliking.

the more I watch unc it's their bigs which look intrigiung particlarly if we buy another draft pick. Zeller looks like a gazelle out there. Really run the floor well and he has that nice hookshot downlow

Anyone else see that spin move? NBA move.

He's not shooting it great, but Barnes has shown more flashes in this game than I've seen all year.

EDIT: Another And-1. He's taking over.
