A closer look at Harrison Barnes

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My questions about barnes is . can he shoot 43 % from 9-23 feets and 55% from 3 to 9 without being a defensive liability. if he can sign him up. I see people talkign about his 35% percent three point shoting. but thats the college three point line. that percemtage is typically lower from the NBA three.

A liability?

Every scouting report out there says the dude is an elite defender.

I am confused.

Of course your confused. you turned a question into a statement. This is why never bother with punctuation. people seemed to get even more confused when i do

Any links ? Cuz am an ACC guy and have yet to hear him called elite at defense.

So i mean maybe elite was an overstatement but he definitely has all of the tools to be a great defender in the league and I am sure that with the solid base they discuss he will only improve based upon the fact that both reports note his high work ethic.

Draft express does not mention his defense as a "strength" nor SwishScout in the things he "does well".

So all his defensive ability and "pontial" is based on his size and length both of which Gee has as well. Which doesn't make him an elite defender.

All were getting his here is a Gee with an awesome shot who albeit can't slash as well.

Again IMO with the #4 pick, I want someone who can handle the ball effectively and create for others.

I want someone who fits the bill from this article.

Noth Carolina's team had a DRtg of 92 which is pretty strong. Henson and Zeller seemed to drive the defense on that team.

Barnes had a personal DRtg of 95.5, which suggests he wasn't a big driving factor on the defense.

Do people really think his worst case is Loul Deng? Nobody's worst case scenario is Loul Deng all star. Not even LeBron's wrst case scenario would have been Loul Deng ffs. Barnes best case could be Deng with a better mid range game. For those saying Anthony is his best case are you insane? One of the most gifted scorers in the NBA is Harrison no dribbles best case? Come on now it's ok if you like the kid, but at least be realistic about his potential. Barnes will be somewhere in between Iggy and Deng (if i'm being generous), not a bad player, not a consistant all star.

Edit: My point is with a top 4 pick we should be hoping for more than a good player.

Exactly, and with a drought of elite SGs in the game, its Beal or die for us in this draft.

But Mdog, do you think MKG or Beal will be much more than good players? My pick is Beal, but if we land Barnes that's not that bad.

Beal is a 6'3" shooting guard in a draft DEEEP in SG prospects; and guys like Waiters and Ross are climbing up boards daily. Cavs will grab MKG or Barnes at the top of the draft. I don't think Beal is anything more than a 6'3" version of Barnes; he too (Beal) struggles to create for himself and get to the rim.

I can certainly see the Cavs doing that.

So grab MKG or Barnes then trade up to grab a SG? I love it
