I'll state by saying I want the Browns to draft Peterson with their #1 pick. The team has not had a franchise back since being back, and you don't pass up one with this kid's ability to draft an overrated, no show in the big games QB, or a DT from Michigan that proved his worth vs. OSU & USC.

That said, I'll step off the pedal, and ask you all this. Why are so many of you stating the reason you don't want Adrian Peterson is his injury history? 95% of the people that don't want him site this. Nephews are getting props for bringing this up. The internet is known for copy cats, but this is getting ridiculous. I need to know what I am missing.

2004:
Oklahoma played 13 games. Peterson played in everyone of them. He started 8. He ran for 2040 yds on 339 carries for over 6 yards a carry and 15 TDs.

2005:
Oklahoma played 12 games. Peterson played in 11 of them. He started 8 games, and played only part of 3 games. He ran for 1195 yards on 220 carries for almost 5.5 yards per carry & 14 TDs. He only got 11 carries in the 3 games, so for argument sake I'll say he really only played in 9 of the 12 games. His injury? An ankle sprain. So rare for a RB. A devestating injury, right? One that is impossible to comeback from, and that plagues football players for years......... um yeah.

2006:
Heisman contender for the first 6 games until he got hurt on a freak play where he dove into the endzone and broke his collarbone. He's a RB. We aren't talking about a torn up knee, or a torn achilles, we are talking about a collarbone. Freak injury. Up until then, he averaged 5.85 yards a carry. He ran for 88 and 2 scores vs. Boise.

So in 3 seasons, he had 2 injuries. Did not play in a total of 8 games. Two injuries. An ankle sprain & a collarbone (freak injury). And this is what we hear over and over about why you should not draft him.

The kid has speed. Vision. Can run inside. Can bust one for 85. Can carry at the goal line. Doesn't need big gaps. I personally have never heard this comparison, but here's the back I think he can be like:

Similiar size, quicks, vision, and between the tackle running ability.

I thought of Dickerson's style when I've seen Peterson play, but I had thought Dickerson may have been bigger. Some of you might have thought that too:

Peterson: 6'2", 218
Dickerson: 6'3", 220

The Browns have not had a franchise back in years. They will have a great chance to take one in 2 months. They shouldn't pass it up. And for those that feel he's not the answer due to injuries or whatever........ I ask you to think back to what they were saying about a TCU RB running a weird offense in college that wouldn't work in the NFL. Big Money. Cash in.

I really liked this guys post from another board..he showed that the injuries are really blown out of proportion and what an impact this guy could be.

In all reality we won't be drafting a QB the best d-lineman are projected deeper than where we're at...we're probably going to LOSE the coin toss (Browns Luck)

I see the draft playing out like this...

1.) Oakland - JaMarcus Russell - Al Davis is in love with this kid he's an amazing physical specimen has a rocket for an arm and could intrigue Randy Moss to actually try hard...maybe double for Jerry Porter?(if he's not traded that is)

2.) Detroit - Brady Quinn - It would really make sense to take Joe Thomas here to open things up for Kevin Jones who should only miss a month if anything next year...but OT's don't quite generate the interest as a potential franchise QB does and of course we're talking about Matt Millen here.

3.) Tampa Bay - Calvin Johnson - They still have a solid defense, they extended Simms contract and let's face it their best receiver is Joey Galloway...dudes 35. Best player in the draft + glaring need = no brainer. He and Cadillac will provide a powerful punch on offense.

4.) Cleveland - Adrian Peterson - Phil Savage is said to be salivating over ADP...the same guy who called the "Bentley to Browns" thing last year is reporting this is the guy we're after. Hopefully this pick is made after acquiring a starting caliber guard or tackle or both in Free Agency. We had no ground game to speak of last year..whatsoever. Crennel has expressed an interest in running the ball and with Charlie's arm I can't blame him. This guy can take it 85 yards with his speed or by running over people. He's solid at the goal line...he's an every situation kind of back. Plus our defense isn't bad it's just the fact that the offense consistently went 3 and out so much that they were completely cashed by mid 2nd quarter. The best defender is sometimes the running back...

Hopefully we'll be able to pickup an Aaron Sears (mammoth OT) in Round 2 or a Tank Tyler (another DT named Tank :chuckles:) to improve either side of the line.

Man, the Bucs should just take AP and create a 2 headed god at RB.

I don't care about his injury history like many others do.

It's doesn't matter if he's never been injured or often in injured the way our players get hurt.

Just rambling quicky off my head, Braylon, Kellen or Courtney Brown never had any significant injuries if any while at college, they come to the browns and you know the rest. I wonder if Courtney Brown is still alive.

Also, I love how this guy conveniently forgets about his shoulder injury his freshman year.

2 Words...Goodbye Asante

refer to sig. and we have the same ammount of money as you guys do to spend in free agency, a team that went 12-4 and made it to the AFC Championship has the same amount of money to spend as a team that went 4-12 and finished last in their divison...do you realize how amazing that is?

I'm pretty sure that they will lay off of a QB this year and stick with Kitna...

They'll probably go for a DE (Anderson/Adams) or snag Joe Thomas...

Agreed... But, I feel that Minneosta might make a play and try to trade up with Tampa and select CJ and then Tampa can fall back and pick up the guy Gruden's in love with = Amobi Okoye...

I agree with the original post though...
