I normally don't post news around here but this one is freaking creepy. Here's the story.
4 hours ago the HR (Human Resources) for DHL called my dad while we were dining out in a restaurant as he is going back to Iraq this day which is Sunday (I live in Asia, Philippines to be precise which is about +8:00 GMT). After talking on the phone with the HR for roughly 10 minutes, my dad rejoined us at the table looking distraught and in disbelief.
"2 of my friends was killed in Kabul" he said. "1 is a Briton, the other is a South African" he added. "It me a long time to get along with those guys. But we ended up as friends anyways as time passed by." he said as he detailed his relationship with the aforementioned persons above.
Then he said "They're the ones who replaced me. If I hadn't opt for going to Los Angeles or Iraq and stayed in Kabul I could have been the one on the news". It was just only almost 1 year since he transferred stations from Afghanistan to Los Angeles to Iraq.
For what's its worth, somebody up there likes my dad.
Afghan police: 2 foreigners shot to death in Kabul
KABUL, Afghanistan – A security guard working for the international shipping company DHL opened fire Saturday, killing the company's country director and his deputy before turning the gun on himself, officials said.
The shooting took place in front of the DHL office in downtown Kabul. One Briton and one South African were killed in the attack, the British Foreign Office and South African government said.
