This is a hot topic for the Cavaliers because obviously we are pulling for Z to make it on there some how..

Marc Stein gave his list and it did not include Z.

Link Here

I've not heard Z mentioned anywhere but you can always hope.

Z is a better center overall than Ben Wallace.

Ben can get the rebounds and play D, but he just had a game where he went scoreless. SAD.

Bottom line: you can't have enough size. Last year, the East won largely because the frontcourt of Ben Wallace, Shaq, and Z were an unbelievable combination. While Z hasn't played the big minutes this year, he has been a top 5 center in the league all year long.

I think coaches will make room for Bosh even though his team is unwatchable. No question Sheed is having a resurgent year at PF. You can make an argument that Ben Wallace is more deserving than Z for playing big minutes; however; there is no doubt Z is #2 in production from the center spot in the East. If Billups is going, and he should, you cannot take both Wallaces.

Losing JO hurts us in the size department..

My solution...slap Ben Wallace in as the PF since he is kinda undersized. Make Z the backup center and bada bing bada boom you just added some size to match up with Brand Yao Nowitzki and KG.

Starters have to be alloted by their position, back ups do not.

So whoever replaces JO has to be a PF, or atleast that would be the logic set by all-star starters.

Do they jus take the #2 voted PF and slide him in or do the coaches pick?

Z should be there. No brainer. His offense is only 2nd to Shaq, and his defense has been a highlight for the Cavaliers! Ben Wallace can make this squad too. He spends most nights guarding forwards anyway, with Rasheed taking the taller matchup. Sheed is not an allstar this year. If O'Neal is out, then Bosh should be looked at. But not aheadof either Z or Wallace.

I'm 90% in agreement with your assessment CavsDawgs. Ben Wallace is still a fairly definite addition, I'd guess to start in place of JO. If not Ben, I'd guess Bosh.

Its probably down to three of the following to join the reserves: Ben/Bosh, Z, Rasheed, and Dwight Howard. I believe Howard is destined to just play in the Rookie/Sophmore game, especially with Okafor hurting. Sheed would be either the third or fourth Piston to make the squad, depending what happens with Rip Hamilton. The Pistons are great, but its in the game's better interest to spread the love to other cities. I don't think Webber or Dalembert even deserve mention.

Yeah, but there are enough scorers on all star teams. I'm sure most fans would want Big Ben over Z.

Speaking of Dalembert, did anyone see Garrity's jam on him. Funny stuff.

Shaq and Big Ben up front. The West should just hack them and gettem to the line.

Karma: I was thinking the same. The best prevention for playing the worst two free throw shooters in the league together in a close game is getting Big Z's 87% involved.

Howard not being on the all-star squad will probably be the biggest snub....ever.

How can the guy leading the NBA in rebounds not make it? I know its his second year, but Howard deserves to be there, over Bosh IMO.

If I read the ESPN article correctly, the commish picks the replacement for J ONeal. My guess would be that Toad-Man picks Bosh for the reason of having Howard in the rookie/soph game.

I wouldn't mind seeing Z in the game, but given his physical state, I'd rather see him get the rest. Yes, he's a tough SOB, but we've got playoffs to consider. I also think that he got chosen last year in part because the Cavs were suddenly playing good ball. They are this year, too, but it's less of a surprise, and that meltdown from last year is still hanging in the air like a stale fart.

Keep in mind that all of this is from someone who thinks the All-Star game (and All-Star games in general) is kind of a waste of time. I wish it took place after the season was over, a la the NFL.

Mac: History has shown young players will always get the short end of the stick when it comes to end of the roster additions to the NBA All Star game. See Grant Hill last year, Mutombo with Philly, and Patrick Ewing for several years. Heck, LBJ should have gone as a rookie if they went off production alone. This is a big reason the Rookie/Sophmore game was instituted in the first place: young players bring in the ad revenue from a totally different market in one game.

It will be interesting to see if Howard and Chris Paul, both certainly deserving of a discussion, are put on the All Star roster.

This year there are 2 wild card spots. I dont remember when this started. Wasnt before you had to take 2 Center reserves?

Big Ben will get the C reserve spot no question. Detroit will be rewarded for winning. In fact, on Inside the NBA, Kenny and Charles both picked the Detroit starting five to be reserves. I doubt that happens, but i think Ben Chauncey and maybe Rip will make it.

I dont see Z making the team, he will get edged out IMO. Sure hes worthy, but other players are more worthy. Carter, Bosh, Redd. I think its better for him to rest all his injuries.
