Amar'e Safari 2015 Reboot - Fooled Thrice

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

There's a flight from Memphis to Cleveland leaving at 6:48 p.m., it gets to Hopkins at 9:45. There's another one at 2:15 p.m. tomorrow, so Mr. STAT can have a nice leasurely breakfast, that gets him to Cleveland at 5:11 p.m.

:chuckles:

Dan will send his jet to get him.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

Agree - the Cavs can get "Option B" a hell of a lot cheaper as long as the threat of Amar'e is a possibility - as soon as Amar'e is off the table, the price of "Option B" goes up - especially the closer to the deadline we get.

This is exactly why Ferry gave Kerr a soft deadline of yesterday/today. We'd be nuts to risk shooting a blank by trying to negotiate w/ Phoenix up until Thursday at 3.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

Guys do we have to trade JJ and Z, whether for amare or someone else now, no matter what????? The damage has been done in regard to them.

Z has known all along he was probably getting traded and brought back, plus has a wife and two new kids in Cleveland. Hickson is 21 years old and just thrilled to be playing next to Lebron and Shaq.

No damage has been done and there would be zero impact if they aren't traded.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

If the cavs wait until Thursday for Option B, the price will include JJ.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

I think we should shift focus to other options but still keep an eye on Phoenix and see if our offer prevails on Thursday... I pray that that's what happens.

I still think we should wait at least one day. I think we could get someone close to the deadline cheap, if it goes to the last seconds, and they want to clear money.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

Danny Ferry will play the waiting game with teams. He will wait until 2:50 on Thursday and teams will be on their knees begging for us to take on their ballooned payroll. Danny Ferry will then look at them, slap them in the face with a stack of $100's and give Stats his plane ticket.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

Here's the thing though.

Pat Riley is being an asshole and is using Ferry's "soft deadlline" to his advantage. It's easy to tell he is taking his good old time uping his offers, or trying to find a 3rd team to facilitate a deal. If you notice, there really is never any news or progression on the Miami front.

For all we knew, Miami was probably going to stand pat at the deadline. They never really got involved into any major trade discussions until the Cavs pursued Amar'e strongly. So Miami really has nothing to lose by playing the waiting game in hopes that Ferry has to walk away from trade discussions with PHX because of timing issues, and wanting to get something done with another team.

Worst situation is if PHX & MIA push Cleveland out by playing waiting games, and then MIA is unsuccessful in finding a deal for Amar'e. I'll be pissed! Either way, Miami will end up with the cap space in the offseason to sign Amar'e if they really wanted to.

Ferry has shown to be extremely aggressive this trade deadline though, and I bet he does not go out without attempting a haymaker punch. Today is the day to go all in. Offer who they want within reason, or simply knock Miami out of the water by offering to take on Jason Richardson. I don't see how Sarver could walk away from that.

PLEASE CLEVEAND! FOR ONCE BE THE LUCKY ONES!!!

And if it doesn't you are willing to give up Z, JJ and 1st round pick for Murphy or Jamison, which is likely what the price will be since it will be the Cavs that have zero leverage at that point.

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

With or without you Amare we are winning the ring so you better get on board while you have a chance;)

No, what the fuck? When did I say that? Did you mean "are you willing"?

Re: Amar'e Safari (Get on or die)

Just keep in mind, we can win a championship without Amare. There are plenty of other good deals on the table, and even without a trade, we have one of the most competitive teams in the league.

If this doesn't go through, it's not the end of the world.
