Andraez “Greedy” Williams: Round 2, Pick 46

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Really sticky cover corner. Sometimes, too sticky. He's so fast and agile that he can stay with anyone, but he still gets way too handsy at times. Gets his hands caught on facemasks and gets grabby with receivers. He doesn't need to do it, but it almost seems like he doesn't trust his own ability to stay with guys.

I wish he would make more plays on the ball, but he's good enough. His long arms are a major advantage. His long arms help him in undercutting passes and defending well thrown passes. I think he's more of a natural at playing man than zone. He sometimes gets lost in the play or sticks with the first man when someone enters his zone.

All that being said, he has all the coverage skills of Ward. He is so fluid and no one ever burns him. He understands who he is covering and more importantly, down and distance. I see his tackling has been questioned, but it's really more effort than form. As a #2 guy, he's extremely solid and allows the Browns to line he and Ward up on the same side every play and just let them cover. I don't think he'll ever have the ball hawking skills of Denzel Ward, but I think he will shut teams down just as well as Ward.

He's closer to 1B than #2 to Ward. Extremely lucky to get him at 46.

Dunno. Everyone is just out of their minds right now and I'm new, so idk why

He is a mid first talent. Most had him top 2 corners in draft. He is biggish and very fast. His hips are fluid, not as fluid as Ward, but Ward is elite.

His downside is maturity and tackling. Tackling can be improved, maturity is up to 2 other LSU Tigers on the team in Odell and Landry.

Honestly the pick is so good, its like we trades our 2nd to get Odell, and used our first on Greedy.

Only reason he dropped is that he can be immature, nothing else makes sense.

Our boy is certainly going to learn how to cover the best.

Like Cedi, he's getting a Master Class.

Just in time for their first AFC Championship appearance. That’s right around the year they should be approaching.

First?

There is just no possible way to be unhappy with this pick.

A+ value and fit.

Greedy gets a bit handsy in coverage and has some technical issues at the LOS he needs to work on, but flat out his tools are Pro Bowl caliber.

Just watched Dorsey’s presser, was asked about Greedy’s personality and interviews.

Dorsey didn’t really seem to hide the fact that there are some issues there.

“If you talk to certain people at LSU.......he’s immensely talented”

“He’s a younger guy”

“From a talent perspective he’s got everything I like....now you just want to see him mature moving forward”

I appreciate the honesty, but this is definitely something to monitor going forward. Would love to see him stick on Denzel Ward to adapt the same level of professionalism and dedication to the craft early on.

Yeah, kind of felt the same way. Ward is definitely s guy that seems to lead by example. Further. I’m incredulous Beckham and Landry would have hesitation to humiliate him in front of the entire team if he formulated the habit of dogging it in coverage against them during practice. I just don’t see it flying.

For once I’m confident in peer leadership on this squad. Doubt Randall, Scho or Garrett would just stand back and let that happen either. But I get that there’s more to maturation than just effort-based play in practice and in games.

Kind of an unrelated aside: Remember how strongly Manginii/Kokonis prioritized character and intelligence over physical talent? You saw how that worked out on the field. Good to have a structure in place that knows you can’t win without athleticism; definitely presents more of a risk, but hey.

I really think that a balance is required. If you don't have a good culture and strong leadership, then those head-case, high-level athletes are going to fail. That's why the supposed "overpay" for Landry really isn't -- he adds a lot in leadership that helps you get more out of other players. It's also part of why Baker is so valuable. He has a fantastic skill set, but the leadership he has shown in turning around expectations, and getting everyone else to believe in working hard and winning, is invaluable.

I really like the way Greedy has a feel for the game. Admittedly, I've only watched highlights and one game's worth of film on him, but here's what I see:
  • He's always facing the WR, and is really good at mirroring him. The dude's athletic, and combine that athleticism with not turning your head around to watch the QB makes it pretty easy to stick with your guy.
  • He also always gets his head around when the ball is headed his way. He seems to just read the receiver's eyes or body language and know the ball was thrown his way
  • He's really good at picking the ball off. Legit hands, body positioning, etc
  • He's not physical at all in the run game. The guy shies away from run support. Let's hope it's just a guy taking care of his body in college. That isn't going to fly in the pros.
  • When tackling WR's, he likes to go for the legs. Let's hope that doesn't lead to missed tackles and guys going for big plays.
