Was interesting to hear his answer during the telecast when asked more specifically about his role. His answer was a bit sloppy and unprepared, as if he is unsure. Talked along the lines of being an ambassador, etc. I get the sense it might be "we are an Organization that takes care of our own" when retirement comes along, which is completely fine. Sends a great message to free agents who might consider Cleveland, and of course demonstrates to current players (ahem, Mr Mitchell) that committing to Cleveland will bring future benefits. Wouldn't be surprised if he lives out his days in Brazil with his family, occasionally coming up to Cleveland for spurts every year.
There was even talk of him helping out in practice, which he answered very thoughtfully in that he does not intend to take away from the expertise our coaches provide. I'm sure he'll bang down low at times to help get guys reps, offering insight.
The ceremony came across to me as a number retirement - was half expecting to see a jersey hoisted up.
Kudos to John too - did a great job on the mic introducing Andy.
