Battle for the AL Central Pt. II -|- Indians vs. Tigers -|- Sept. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why should anyone show up after the way they played yesterday? Playoff teams do not lose games at home with large crowds. Ever.

It was also muggy and overcast today.

God I hope you're being sarcastic.

People are going to be blaming Tito for this. I know he's "Mr. Loyal" and believes in letting his closer close at all costs, but Allen should have been pulled after the first two batters when it was clear he didn't have it tonight.
No manager is going to pull their best reliever after two batters, unless it resulted in runs. Not to mention you can't exactly call down to the pen and get a guy ready in 5 seconds.

Eh, in fa

I see what ya did there- blame Tito while saying others are going to blame Tito.

Cody has been the Tribe's best reliever all year. He just got done getting Victor Martinez to pop out. His option was to go to CC Lee instead. Cody has gotten into trouble like that and settled down, easy to say after the HR he should have been pulled.

God I hope you're being sarcastic.

Of course not. My understanding is that the Tribe always lose these, which is why people stay away because if the Tribe loses those it means they aren't any good. I'm just using Cleveland fan causality.

Get the next two. Easy schedule pretty much the rest of the way. I don't know.

I'm depressed again. The Indians are my favorite team.

Can't believe the Tigers bullshit luck with players.

They pull JD Martinez off the scrap heap and he's now hitting .310 with 18 HR and an OPS of .900.

Except he wasn't pitching like our best reliever. You need to read the situation on a given day...that's what a manager does.
If you're only up by one run, you damn well better pull your closer before he causes damage if it's clear he's not locating his pitches.

This one hurts big time but the "season's over" crowd is ridiculous. Emotions talking.

Have a good night all!

1. That HR was long overdue for the Tigers.

2. No excuse for Kipnis' lazy ass play on that grounder.

3. Season far from over.

4. Need to turn the entire upper deck into a bouncy house.....

5. Tito and Mickey are the guys solely responsible for keeping this team in the race. Find a new target to blame.....

Definitely, read the situation after two batters...then make a move to a less capable reliever that was nowhere near ready in the bullpen.

Can't believe that didn't happen, and you're absolutely right. He should suffer the consequence.

Didn't end up affecting them, though.

so, even though Allen will be the focal point now, does anyone want to talk about how awful the offense has been lately...

I swear, I was in the middle of writing a post saying Allen should be pulled right when he gave up the HR. It's not some hindsight thing. Sure, Lee could have blown the game anyway, but I would at least have taken my chances with him.

Definitely not hindsight.

It's totally rational thinking.

Just to push the point home further- most action a 2-1 game going into the 9th gets is when trouble hits... :chuckle:
