I honestly believe we could see Wells win the Heisman this year. Tebow's obviously the favorite, but look at it this way - outside of an early game at USC that will make or break our season, we have a very good chance to go undefeated or only lose one game. We have Michigan at home this year and the Big Ten is still definitely top heavy with a bunch of average teams in the middle. The offensive line is in tact and one of our strong points on the team. Last year, Wells ran for 1,609 yards and 15 TD's as a sophomore. With OSU as one of the top teams in the country again (I believe we're Preseason #2), there's no reason why Beanie shouldn't be in New York at the end of the season.

Yup...and then lose to UGA in the NCG.

Seriously, how many times are you guys willing to watch your team get ass raped by a better SEC team?

Florida did handle us, and we were beaten by LSU pretty good, not exactly an ass raping. Bottom line is we've been getting there the past few years, we had more talent in the Florida game, but were out-matched last year. It's funny how everyone makes fun of OSU for losing the last 2 NCG's, yet outside of Gainesville and Baton Rogue, no one has any room to talk because at least we're getting there.

Yea I guess, but you are getting there by playing a pretty easy schedule, granted this year they have a legit schedule but these past 2 years, osu has gotten exposed. Funny thing is....LSU wasnt even the best team in the SEC last year, UGA would have KILLED them.

OSU has had a sub-par schedule, but honestly, we shouldn't even have been there last year if everyone else didn't **** up. Everyone says we got in unjustified...well if people remember, West Virginia and Missouri were the Top 2 that were going to play in the NCG, but both of those teams lost so #3 OSU moved up, and somehow, #7 LSU also moved in. Last year, it still should have been OSU vs. Georgia.

Had osu played UGA it would have been ugly, Stafford is freaking nasty and Knowshaun is going to be in the running for the Heisman next year. LSU is lucky they didnt have to play UGA last year, and had they got to the NCG, they would have murked osu.

UGA also has a tough road to get to the NCG this year, but thats what you get when you play in the SEC.

@LSU
@Auburn
'Bama
Florida
@USC

LSU, Auburn and Florida? There is no way they can win all 3 of those.

After we lost the NCG to Florida I figured the following season (last year) would be somewhat of a down year for OSU football, and honestly it was (at least talent wise). I looked at who we had coming up and figured that 2008 would be our next great run with a bunch of complete studs on both sides of the ball. If the OSU schedule makers thought anything like I did and looked ahead at who we had coming up then its not surprising that our schedule was so light last year. Little did I or anyone else know that a down year for OSU would still mean an appearance in the NCG. Still, when we lost I wasnt all that upset because that team had already faaar exceeded my expectations and I knew that the 08 team was going to be even more talented. I am really looking forward to this season, and if we somehow manage to get back to the NCG again we will have definately earned it, especially since no one wants to see us there 3 years in a row.

One things for sure though, I wont live my college season banking on another team's failure as my only satisfaction. I honestly hope that the childish bullshit that went on in this forum last year is in the past and that people have grown the fcuk up, because that was some of the most embarassing shit I've seen on this site.

UGA was overrated - they got on a roll and then beat a team in Hawaii who truly hadn't played anyone good, and played in a system that only worked in NCAA football 2008. At one point, OSU played 6 teams that reached the top 30. We scheduled Washington I think when they were ranked 8th or 4th, and they fell off the boat. And 2007 was supposed to be a rebuilding year for 2008.

And this season - we're going to USC, WISC, ILLINI...I'm not going to get into this argument again because no one ever makes any head way.

James -
We are part of the big 10 and the level of competition in all conferences is cyclical. I have no idea how long these cycles last - 5 years, 20 years? Who knows. I don't think that our scheduling is weak, given our situation. Most teams play a creampuff or two. Then we, as Big 10 members, have to play a bunch of B10 teams. These last few years, they have sucked. The thing is, against LSU, you are dead right. We weren't prepared because our previous competition sucked and theirs didn't. They were ready for a battle, and we showed up with squirtguns. Oh well. I don't see it as WE sucked, just that we weren't cultivated for the opportunity...

How many times am I willing to watch OSU get waxed by a better SEC team? However many it takes until we beat them.

But as far as the scheduling, _part_ of it is out of our control. I also don't know the relative importance of factors that the schedule-maker must consider. For example, there must be some balance between toughness of schedule and record for a bowl game. The ideal answer is in the middle somewhere, since neither the toughest schedule possible nor the easiest schedule possible have yet to occur. Then we throw in projecting how good opponents will be (pretty tough to do consistently), and of course, what about money? It MUST be better to make the NCG and lose then to not. My point is that there are so many factors, both controlable and random, to consider.

I also think that it's pretty childish to bash OSU fans, but I wouldn't expect any different from you. And the whole "they bash every other team" arguement is so tired - two wrongs don't make a right. Harboring anger is like a cancer (that goes to the OSU fans too - if the bashing gets to you). And not all OSU fans bash other teams. Here's another good educational article about the concept of the Other, BTW (don't worry it's short): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Other . I think it's applicable.

Have a nice day!

I really dont have a problem with it, there were certain members on here who complete jerks so I took up the oppertunity to be the jerk when the oppertunity comes around every January when osu loses.

style would bash ND for scheduling teams like Navy, and now osu has Navy on there schedule in a few years and where is style to be seen? Exactly. Some of the "fans" on this board are spinless and gutless and I will call them out on it when I see it.

I think its funny that people bash OSU's schedule when OSU is one of the few elite college football programs who actually try to schedule tough OOC games, and aren't afraid to go on the road to do so. Did everyone forget last year that they just finished a home/home with Texas in '06? Washington was crappy, but by no fault of OSU who scheduled that game when the Huskies were a top 10 team. Offhand, their OOC in the next decade is USC, Miami FL, VaTech, CAL, Oklahoma, Tennesee (will they lose their SEC membership for scheduling that?)

When was the last time an SEC team played a road game north of the Mason Dixon?

Why leave the South when the teams that are winning BCS Championships are from your conference?

Alabama has Clemson this year, which isnt as good as some of the elite programs, but they have shown they can kick the crap out of USC every year, so Clemson gets a pass from me.

You also must have forgot about LSU playing VT last year who finished #3 before the bowl games started.

Its to early for me to start another SEC vs. Big 10 debate, but I guess with how pathetic the Indians are doing, you want to hurry up and get on to the next thing in ohio.

Why do you even post on this forum.

When somebody that follows dame continuously brings it up what did you expect style, me or any other bucks fan to do?

OSU also has scheduled Tenn, Texas, USC again - we always schedule a powerhouse, top 10 team. This year Washington kinda fell off the map but it's ignorant to say we planned that.

Once again - for a powerhouse like OSU, what's the difference between playing NW (56-3, NW had 0 rushing yards), and YSU? There is none.

As for Beanie - Can't find it, may have been a writer for SI, but I saw Beanie was a "man to beat" while he predicted King Laurinaitis to finish 7th.
