The Cleveland Indians baseball team has been around since 1905. There was a Cleveland baseball team before that, and there will be one in the future. It just won't be the Indians.
Since I was born and raised in Cleveland following the Indians, and my father was born and raised in Cleveland following the Indians, it might be time to take stock on the franchises major accomplishments.
I would be happy if somebody wanted to start a thread for All-Time Indians team, or your favorite game. Half of the attraction of baseball is the history.

So here we go: Biggest Moments in Cleveland Indians History.
(Not that I was even alive for some of these.)
1. 1948 World Champions - The post-war celebration
2. 1920 World Champions - Speaker, Chapman, triple play in World Series
3.1995 AL Champions - out of decades of misery. 100-44
4. 1947 - Indians add Larry Doby. Three months after Jackie Robinson, but no movies about him.
5. 2016 AL Champions - Bittersweet, but with more plusses than minuses.

What are other big moments you think are important?

The Sept. 12, 1954 doubleheader defeats of the NYY 4-1 and 3-2 before a record crowd. Baseball reference has it at 84,563 I suppose paid. Total attendance figures ranged up to 86,000 . My favorite player, Bobby Avila, had big games in both. The subsequent issue of Sports Illustrated featured the games on the cover with the lead being "Twilight of The Gods".

#1 for me by a wide margin:

Other ones that just stick in my head:

  • Manny's "Wow" shot off Eckersley.
  • Sorrento's grand slam to seal the comeback against Cy Young winner David Cone
  • Kenny taking home after Amaro off Randy Johnson's wild pitch
  • Pena pumping his fist after the walk-off playoff home run
  • McGwire's shot off the Budweiser sign
  • The Midge Game

July 30th, 2014. Being in IT I get to go to a lot of free games in suites if I sit and listen to sales pitches before the game. That game we just so happened to be in the Owners Box(might be renamed now), right behind home plate. The vendor even paid up for the drinks machine, you select what you want, like a rum and coke, and it makes it for you. Took me a few minutes, but I eventually figured out how to make it just spit out bourbon, as I don't care for mixing bourbon.

Free beer, food and bourbon, watching Kluber's 85 pitch gem in the Owners Box with two of my co-workers.

Sandy homering off Mariano in game 4 (97)
Tony Fernandez game 6 Alcs homer (97)

Coolest home run (and bat flip) I’ve ever seen in person was Mark Whitten’s in the 98 alcs….

Great stuff! Great thread!

Barker's perfect game.
Feller's opening day no-hitter.
Sandy's All Star game home run.
Mays' over the shoulder catch off Wertz.

Injury milestones
Ray Chapman killed by HBP in head
Ray Fosse drilled by Pete Rose in All Star game collision effectively ending Fosse’s days as a high level backstop.

One of my favorite childhood Indians memories:
In old Municipal Stadium, they would hold 'Bat Day". They would give out regulation wood bats to the kids. Usually would sell out. Around the 6th inning they would ask everyone to hold up their bats. Great picture next day in the Plain Dealer.
Somewhere in a dusty corner of my garage is one of those bats. I believe it says Go Tribe on the barrel.
