Brandon Weeden: GTFO!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Who is the most NFL ready deep threat left at WR?

Stephen Hill isn't really NFL ready but he's the best deep threat left. He'll probably come off the board with the first pick in the 2nd round, however.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Bernie was here for 7 years.

Sipe was here for 5 years.

Ryan was here for 6 years.

Nelson was here for 4 years.

Graham was here for 10 years

BUT WE ONLY MIGHT GET 5 YEARS FROM WEEDEN! OH NOES!

Shit. I forget how many Super Bowls those guys won?

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Not Super Bowls, but Graham won a shit ton of championships. Don't make fun of Otto Tony Grossi fan.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Graham won, what, 6? Nelson won 2? Ryan 1? Sipe was the NFL MVP and Bernie was a top 10 NFL QB during his time and got screwed by his team in AFC Championship games.

The point is, you can compete for a title with a guy who is only here for 5 years. And Weeden could probably play 10 years if he is good.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

You're talking out of your ass now. Weeden isn't a guy who can win you games, that makes him average. But QBs don't win you games, teams do.

You're right I should have phrased that better.

I shouldn't have said "win you games," especially after talking about it when discussing head to head record against other QBs. I didn't mean that in the same context here. But QBs don't win games without the rest of their team, although elite QBs certainly have more effect on the games outcome.

You haven't destroyed anyones credibility, but that was quite a pretentious thing to say given the fact Weeden hasn't played a snap in training camp yet.

His projections are what they are. You want to call me out for talking about his arm strength based on online scouting reports, but you can't point to anything or anyone who lists him as a future Pro-Bowler with elite potential.

Yet when anyone talks about his ceiling "we can't judge that," but his ability to adapt from OSU's offense to the WCO is not up for debate?

It's about opinion. You don't agree with mine, deal with it.

Yeah, it's a little ridiculous that people question you because you personally don't like a player. He has concerns, you can't ignore them like everyone is seeming to do.

Yet Doc was really bashing on taking Richardson 4th a while ago if I recall.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Fuck Fuck Fuck you Weeden for being so god damn old. 25 and I'm fine with you.

Shit dude, I'm not thrilled with where we drafted him, but that statement is absurd. If he were 25, we don't have a prayer at drafting him unless we're giving up Richardson...which I wouldn't do. But, he'd definately go top 10.

I guess the plan was Wright at 22 and hope Weeden was there at 37...but since Wright was gone we went with the next guy on our board just to be safe. I'd bet we take OL at 37

Yeah true.. maybe 26 turning 27? Didn't really realize what I'd said. I just don't like the value at 22 really.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

Weeden needs to come in from day 1 and prove he is worth it. I think he will be under fire from the fans from training camp on. Couple of bad games, and he will hear it from the fans.

This is what pisses me off more than anything. We just took a second to third round guy with a first round pick. The FO didn't seem at all able to get their shit together between the time Wright was picked and our pick. Target off the board? Fine, let's get the best value at our pick then continue with our plan.

Some of your statements have been pretty ridiculous, that's what makes me question your credibility. Sure he has age concerns, and of course it'd be preferable if he came from a pro style offense. But not all prospects do and his age isn't as big a deal to me as it clearly is to you.

Some aspects of his game that you've questioned are obvious, indisputable strengths. Most notable being his arm strength. Calling it marginally better than McCoy's even though his arm is elite. You also see, to have this notion that he has no ceiling because he's old. It makes no sense. He has no need to mature physically, why can't he improve with coaching? I understand he doesn't have as much time as most prospects, but that doesn't mean he just flat out can't get better.

I'm pretentious? Pot, meet kettle. My post was out of line, but some of your assertions are just flat out ridiculous.

Does he have age problems? Yes. Did he come from a non pro style offense? Yes. Does he have all the physical tools to be a franchise QB? You betcha. If he was a perfect prospect, would he have been sitting there at 22? Hell no. The Browns decided to take a chance on a guy who has all the physical tools needed to be great.

I had and still have concerns with his style of running and injury possibilities. That said he was clearly the best talent available to the Browns. As I stated in multiple posts, I was flip flopping frequently about what I wanted to do at 4. Not sure why that's relevant.

My problem isn't with b00bie's opinion. It's with him misrepresenting a player and his attributes because he personally doesn't like him.

Re: The Brandon Weeden Thread

I have one thing to say:

I don't care if you like Weeden or not. In no way, shape or form we should have selected Weeden with Reiff and DeCastro on the board. We get Reiff or DeCastro, and Weeden is still on the board at 37 GUARANTEED.

The value of Weeden at 22 was downright horrible and if anyone denies that, then they're downright stupid.

b00bie actually has said nothing about the arm strength in a very long time, I think he knows he was wrong about what he said, there's no reason to keep bringing it up over and over. He doesn't like Weeden's age, and potential. Those are legit concerns.
