This is all premised around Artest coming here, which he will not.

Bron plays defense as well as my couch. Bron is 6'8-6'10 and about 250-260. Now, no PF can defend him, so they will probably switch to someone who also cannot defend him. If we can package Gooden/Luke/someone for artest and someone, i would do this. Bron can defend the PF much better than a SG or a SF. so this would be the starting 5:

Snow
Hughes
Artest
Bron
Z

Don't throw a pile of dung at me, just let me know how you think about it.

"If" we get Artest, then Bron will not being playing PF. He or hughes more likely will take over at the point. A more realistic line-up would be.

PG- Lebron
SG- Hughes
SF- Artest
PF- Marshall- "I only see us getting Artest w/ Gooden in the trade."
C- Z

We would be completly over matched with Lebron at PF position. I cant even begin to think about Lebron guarding Sheed, Jemaine Oneal or any one at the 4 for that matter..

SNOW!!!! NO!!!! damon jones been playing pretty good def and great offence i think he deserves his chance over a guys who cant do shit[snow]. try to aruge that lol good luck trying to saying snow plays god offence, and considering cavs give up over 100 points a game looks lie hes not doing that well.

Well LeBron is 6'8" 240-245. I don't think he can be what we need down there either, he just tries to come around from the side and poke it loose which 9 times out of 10 is a foul.

NO!!!!!!!!

Over matched and too much banging for him to be effective with his offensive game..

If you think LeBron is getting torched now... PF's posting him up

He's not great in the post anyhow.. Don't you remember 92lbs Tayshaun Prince posting him up last year ? :(

Clearly, we're not watching the same games...

The more research I do, the more unlikely we see Artest in town. More than one source thinks Ferry is way too smart to introduce a personality like Artest to the team he's building. I know I'm stating the obvious to a degree, but I too got a little excited about Ron Artest in Cleveland.

With a few days to ponder, I think it's best we defer. The core of our team is in place with LBJ, Larry, and Z. That's all the scoring this team needs in most situations. Obviously Drew can average 15 ppg as well, but at this point he becomes expendable and needs to be dealt in a package deal with Damon Jones.

Soon Verejao returns and brings us a large amount of additional energy of the defensive side of the ball. He can still grab the scraps on the offensive glass and put up 10 points a night as well. Essentially what Drew brings to us know.

We start::

Snow
Hughes
James
Verejao
Z

Fill with Marshall and whatever solid defenders we can find for the value of Drew and Damon. At this point it seems pointless at the real trading has yet to commence. The Artest situation simply brings some of these items to light.

In summary, I think Ron is simply too much of a risk for this team. I wish I had a crystal ball to see how his attitude evolves over the next 3-5 years. If I liked what I saw, I'd make the deal today.

forget the basketball aspects of that roster for a minute and think about the financial impact. to keep artest will require a maximum contract. adding a near max for hughes and ilgauskas, a max for Lebron and snow's seven million dollars a year and our starting lineup would be approaching the luxury tax limit. that would require that we have the weakest bench in the history of the nba. besides, we will probably have to give the pacers hughes to get artest.

still, it's fun to dream about having a lineup with four allstars.

Why get a group of nice guys who can't play together and win? Makes no sense, yeah we want character guys, but at what point do we give up character in order to get what we need. What could we use? A bonafide starting all star, with lockdown defense and good perimeter shooting. This would solve our 3 point problems, imagine Artest locking up Redd...I love it. Plus if we are playing teams with good PF's he can guard them to. If Ferry wants to win he brings in Ron Artest period.

Ron would be for Hughes, so there is minimal salary impact.

artest does an awesome job on redd. i don't think that milwauke has won against the pacers in the last three seasons.

Well everybody needs to take a chill pill. We are not going to blow up the team and move lebron out of position this year. Aint hapening. LeBron may or may not be able to play power forward (aren't we forgetting that he is both more physical and more talented than Shawn Marion? ) but we are not in a position to play that kind of game. It seems to me that the incredibly talented 3 on most teams a postiion with attidue issues to spare (think Paul Pierce ) and we are very fortunate that LeBron is not that.

What we need to address is physical toughness in the paint. When have we lost when we outrebounded opposing teams? When have we been spanked when we were outrebounded? A Ron Artest who is looking to show off his offensive talent is not the right piece to add.

thank you. My point is this: Bron COULD play a PF better than he could defend a SG or a SF. there is no doubt in my mind about this. This is all conjecture cause it aint happenin, but i wouldn't mind to see Brown try it...But, if anything, bron needs to be the PG.

Bron would run into countless troubles if he was the PG. Bringing the ball up is the obvious advantage, but the disadvantage lies in defense. He would get blasted by the opposition's PG's. That's why it failed his rookie season.

As a PF on defense.. he might hold an advantage. He would have to have some sort of defensive concept... watch some tapes of how Boris Diaw dismantles people in the paint. If he can use his quickness and strength as an advantage, then he'd be good guarding PF's of the league... On offense he'd have the obvious edge in his outside shot and quick first step.

The suns are notorious for their pathetic defense...

Last year not only did they score the most, but they gave up the most... Mainly because their front court was out of place and Nash is terrible defensively...

In no way is LeBron as quick as Marion.. Marion, like LeBron, is a freak of nature, but in a completely different way.. He is a better defender too... Players blow by LeBron like he's not even there... He doesn;t seem to possess the lateral quickeness (I wonder if it has somethind to do with his Duck Walk ?)

Marion's second jump is just as quick too... LeBron is a slow there as well... Marion is a friggin' "pogo stick"

Not only that, but that whole team is run differently then any other team in the league... At the rate they score (especially last year) they can afford it... But only up to a certain point, when they run into a defensive team, that force them to play differently, they are not effective at all...

Marion would be a failure any other place in the league at PF... But again, he is unique, and hustles... Built like Miles (but Miles doesn't hustle, and would be terrible at PF)
