Browns Free Agency 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Phipps just chimed in

His Manzel stuff hasn't come true yet but then again Johnny isn't out of rehab yet (Or he left today)

This though definitely fits with the Browns only having a single free agent visit thus far (3 total counting Cole and Hartline, I'd bet on Cole being the other player who "victimized" us though it could also of been Dan Williams

Let me just say...this isn't bullshit. I have similar from another person close to players, agents, etc. Haslam is not just a problem, he's the problem.

On the good side, Pettine holds a ton of leverage and has the opportunity to be the cog that runs the organization. So, as crazy as Haslam has been, he found a coach who commands a boatload of respect.

yet we still won 7 games..

Playing the 4 worst teams in the league certainly helped with that (I read that had never happened before last year).

I am so confident that won't happen again I will leave the site forever if it does.

What is the problem with him? Is it a control thing? That he's the biggest cheapskate in the NFL? That he only cares about marketing and not the on field product?

What have you heard?

When you say Pettine holds a ton of leverage, do you mean with Jimmy or with players around the league?

Im laughing as im typing this but its gonna be hilarious when the Browns uniforms resemble dog shit with peanuts and Boobie defends them like theyll be the next best thing :chuckle:

Im kidding Boobie or maybe not....

That NFC South was so terrible just say we had 4 wins.

Do we seriously have people saying Haslam is a "cheapskate" now? Lol wow..

You keep coming at me like I think the Browns are good or something.

I've been reiterating the lack of free agent interest in the Browns for years, not sure why people are surprised by this year-after-year.

They're never going to be a free agent destination, not even sure why people want them to be.

Of course, most of the trusted sports commentators of Cleveland have jobs in radio....So what do I expect, really.

I really think our current WRs are being severely underrated. In terms of depth at the slot/possession WR spot, someone name me a better trio of Hartline - Hawkins - Gabriel. Not joking.

Gabriel, 36 for 621, was 3rd in NFL for YPC. 9th amongst rookies in yards (great group, btw). Can't put a ceiling on him just yet.
Hawk had 824 yards while not being used properly and Hartline needs to be Joe J from 2007, and he easily can be.

All with a shit QB.

Not to mention Jim Dray, another underrated player who stepped up in a starters absence, had 14.2 YPC.

No they're not sexy. Yes, we need a #1. Is he in the draft? Unless you're getting White, no. There are plenty of WR's to be had in the later rounds.

When fans vent about something i feel like you're always against it and will be the voice of reason in a dick way. Doesn't matter if its baseball or football.

He hasn't spent shit on this roster since he got here, but has soaked the place of every available dollar he can find.

What would you call that kind of behavior?

Not a cheapskate at all.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. Business opps are a fucking disaster. Odd philosophies (he is a southern white republican with a fuckload of cash after all).

Pettine is blunt, open, honest, and strong willed. Not afraid to tell Haslam what time it is. Opposite of Farmer (who isn't a bad GM just s being twisted in too many directions - not an envious position to be in).

Barring a miracle, start hoping Pettine gets this team to 7 wins again in spite of Haslam and Farmer (again, not his fault he has a maniac pushing buttons for him) and leverages himself into a coach/GM role. Seriously.

Bro, check the finances. He's anything but a cheapskate.

Spending $ in FA like a drunken sailor is a recipe for disaster. Tampa is a perfect case study. "won" free agency last 2 years, have now cut a ton of guys they just signed. It's a misguided approach (i.e. retarded).

Cameron's agent is very smart. Browns didn't do anything wrong. And this has happened a few times in the past 48 hours.

Im hoping they improve the team tomorrow. Maybe a move is made that will satisfy us, a solid move would do wonders for everyones health.
