With the excitement of the new hire at HC, it's time to start looking ahead to FA and potential targets. With the hiring of Jackson, I'd expect the Browns to see an uptick in interest when it comes to FA's on the offensive side of the ball. It's hard to say yet defensively until Jackson puts together the rest of his staff. First off, let's start with the Browns own free agents:

Tashaun Gipson
Craig Robertson
Mitchell Schwartz
Johnson Bademosii
Travis Benjamin
Scott Solomon
Austin Pasztor
Tank Carder
Jamie Meder
Travis Coons
Don Jones
Terrelle Pryor

Marvin Jones, and all our FAs re-signing would be awesome.

Guys I think we should target to start our super bowl dynasty.

Quarterbacks

Brandon Weeden

Cold McCoy

Running backs

Robert Turbin

Shaun Draughn

Tight Ends

Ben Watson

Defensive linemen

Billy Winn

Focusing on the offensive side at this point...

RB - Often a dicey place to spend money, so I wouldn't expect the Browns to offer up much here. However, a couple guys peak my interest.

Matt Forte - I could potentially see Forte on a high dollar, short-term deal ala Jamal Lewis, but he likely goes to a contender I would guess.

Doug Martin - Would be a great pairing with the Duke and would be tremendous behind this O-Line. Had two crap years sandwiched between to great years, so it's a bit hard to truly know what you'd be getting. Still, I think he'd look nice in a Browns uni.

Chris Ivory - Again, no idea on cost with these guys, but Ivory would be a nice get. Fast, powerful runner.

WR

Marvin Jones - Jones would be a tremendous signing on multiple levels. Another big, fast, playmaking WR on the outside for a young QB. Obviously very familiar with Jackson and the offensive system. Has the potential to become a #1 type WR in the right situation and an elite #2.

If you're drafting a QB at #2, and you can hand him Gordon, Jones, Benjamin, Barnidge, Johnson (plus another RB) and a top notch OL, how could you ask for more?

Might be unpopular but analytics really de-emphasizes the center position, especially high paid centers, so I wouldn't hold my breath on Mack re-signing. I'd let him walk. We have 1 1/2 centers on the roster anyways....

I think Hue will want a more athletic upgrade at RT. Hue likes his linemen to play in space. Move on from Schwartz. I think they can find a solid replacement in the draft.

Need a big bodied possession receiver too.

I would trade Joe Thomas too. But before anyone jumps down my throat for the archaic thought of needing to protect a rookie QB, watch Hue's offense in Cincy. It's high tempo, with spread components. The ball gets out quickly.

Travis Benjamin was on the verge of an extension when they signed Barnidge to deal.

Could close that one soon.

Mack is likely gone, Schwartz likely follows. Gibson isn't worth a franchise tag, Coons can get out.

I'd say Benjamin is damn near a must-sign. If you're going to draft a rookie QB, you need to give him some weapons. Barnidge and Benjamin would be a really good start, and if Gordon somehow pulls his head out of his ass and gets back in the NFL, that would be icing on the cake.

If Bosa is there when we pick, I'd strongly consider going after RG III or Kapernick. If Lynch or Goff don't grade out highly. Right now Alex Smith has the Chiefs rolling, I'd take that.

There's a lot of impact player on the defensive side of the ball in FA this year.

Really excited to see the type of talent that Hue Jackson is able to attract to come play here. Have to think that playing for him will be a big factor in some FA's decisions.

Not that I really want him and his injuries, but he's a big name to add to the list:

Report: Texans expected to release Arian Foster
Posted by Josh Alper on January 14, 2016, 7:24 AM EST

The Texans are definitely looking for a starting quarterback this offseason.

It looks like there’s a good chance that they’ll be in the market for a running back as well. Arian Foster is turning 30, coming off a torn Achilles and set to make a non-guaranteed $6.5 million in base salary, all of which works together to explain why Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle has heard from multiple sources that believe Foster will be released this offseason.

There are other options, including a pay cut for the final year of Foster’s contract, but the veteran back has had a variety of injury issues in recent years that make him a risky bet to bank on heading into next season. When Foster was dealing with a groin injury last summer, owner Bob McNair said he wasn’t surprised because “it seems like every year [Foster’s] had a soft tissue injury.” That would seem to be more fuel for the release fire, but McNair said this week that it is too soon to make a call in any direction.

“Well, we’ll have to see how healthy he is,” McNair said. “But until we know that, there’s really not much you can think about.”

Foster ran for 163 yards on 63 carries in four games this season. Alfred Blue led the Texans with 698 yards on 183 carries.

For power running backs, I would love to see either Starks or Ivory. Both are tremendous power running backs, particularly Chris Ivory

Olivier Vernon won't come cheap, but he would transform the defensive front. By the end of the month, he will be the free agent every website will be talking about.

I still think Benji is a little overrated by Browns fans. If they keep him to run fly patterns at the right price, great. If he wasn't previously a Brown, we would be talking about a limited receiver who has inflated stats because there was nobody else to throw to in the offense.
