Let's cut the crap and get back on topic...especially since McCoy was hired in SD. DC should become clear very soon.
Even with the news of McCoy taking the job in SD, it was stated this morning (on twitter) that the Browns haven't yet asked permission to interview John Pagano. I'm guessing that they've been told to wait on him until they hire a head coach and make their own decisions internally.
Well, ya. But, the point being there doesn't seem to be any link between McCoy and Pagano, and there are a bunch here. I wouldn't be surprised if McCoy turned to now DL Coach Mike Trgovac in GB. The two served on Fox's staff in CAR for a long time together. Trgovac had some great success there as a DC, as well. Seems like a great fit.
Great insight here. I didn't make my post to refute yours or anything, I just felt (and feel) like things wouldn't get past a certain point until McCoy has enough time to thoroughly lay out his plan.
Oh, I know. Wasn't trying to sound defensive or anything. Just seems like the chips are all falling into place now. I'm really hoping now that everything is beginning to shake out that this means we won't see Tucker here. I love the guy as a DB coach, just don't like that bend but don't break D he's oft associated with.
Not sure he really deserves that label.
Not easy to be aggressive when you've literally never had a pass-rusher worth much of anything. You've got to play with the players you've got.

Tucker has done a fantastic job in Jacksonville, considering the talent level. Going from assistant head coach to just the defensive coordinator could potentially be an issue for a fast-rising young coach. He deserves some looks as a head coach in the NFL, which might be one of the hold ups. Still, we are talking about a native Clevelander who might give the Browns a hometown discount if he remains a coordinator.
