I think Cleveland will always be a Browns Town because football is by far the most popular sport. Also, teams in the NFL can go from terrible to playoff teams (Kansas City) and if you were brought up in a sports household, there is no doubt that the Browns were the best teams when your parents were having you a=or about to (well I am 23 so it is for me at least). But just the rich history of the Browns and the legacy and everything ...I dont know, I am just rambling now.

The Indians have a great history as well, and baseball is the sport with the most tradition. I think the status of the teams when you are 12-18 is the most important thing in determining what team you follow the most, but that's just me. I do agree that football is the most popular sport in the state, and that the NFL is the easiest league to turn it around in.

I think the root of the issue is that Baseball is a terrible sport. That doesn't make me like the Indians or playoff baseball any less, but it's hard to tell yourself that every game matters when there's 150 of them a year.

The Browns had a local Nielsen rating of 29.1 for the 2010 season (29.1% of all homes in the market were watching the Browns). Ranking 10th in the NFL. http://www.neworleanssaints.com/new...ng-of-10/14613e33-9eff-4b01-8e56-455a6f991f0b

The Cavs had a local Nielsen rating of 8.1 for the 2008-2009 season (8.1% of all homes in the market were watching the Cavs). Ranking 1st in the NBA. http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/media_entertainment/lebron-cavs-top-local-nba-ratings/

Browns record: 5-11 (31%). Cavs record: 66-16 (80%). The Cavs had the biggest superstar in the league and won the most games in the league, yet nearly 4 times as many homes watched the Browns. Blame it on the popularity of the NFL, but the numbers don't lie. Football is king in the United Stated and Cleveland. Even if the Cavs played only 16 games, their ratings would still be much lower than the Browns (only my opinion). Put them head to head, and unquestionably more people would watch the Browns (again, my opinion).

As for the argument that more games makes each game less important: Sunday Night Football got better ratings than the World Series this past season. Monday Night Football was also damn close. Clearly a World Series game has much more meaning than one regular season NFL game. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gameon/post/2010/11/tv-ratings-world-series-giants-rangers/1

This season the Cavs are down to 4.1% locally. Ranking 7th in the NBA. http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-blog/index.ssf/2011/02/cleveland_cavaliers_tv_ratings.html So, at this point the Browns draw 7 times more viewers than the Cavs. LeBron's return to Cleveland drew 25.4% locally. Less than an average Browns game. http://content.usatoday.com/communi.../lebron-james-tv-ratings-tnt-heat-cavaliers/1

Wow, that is some interesting stuff. How the hell is 4.1% the 7th best in the NBA? That seems like such a low amount.

Well, there is some actual evidence sgm.

It's definitely interesting, but it's not surprising at all, and I'm not sure it's sufficient evidence for the people caring more about the Browns though. I watched every single Browns game this year. I don't watch every Indians or Cavaliers game...not even close. However, the Indians are BY FAR my favorite of the Cleveland teams, with the Cavaliers being my 2nd favorite.

The Browns have 16 games, and they're all on Sundays when most people are home. The Indians have 162 games and the Cavaliers have 82 games, many throughout the week, many that start at 10 PM (West Coast road games). Is it really any surprise that more people watch?

It's better than people just saying it's a Browns Town because it "just is", but like the attendance argument, I'm not sure this proves much with amount of games and when the games are played.

So what kind of evidence are you looking for and how could there really even be evidence?

The best evidence IMO is people telling you it is a Browns town. If the large majority of fans say it's a Browns town, then it is. Not sure why you don't consider that proof.
