Bulls Name Jim Paxson As A Consultant
5th July, 2006 - 11:27 am
Press Release - The Chicago Bulls today announced that two-time former NBA All-Star guard Jim Paxson will be added to the club’s Basketball Operations Department as Consultant.

In making that announcement, Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations John Paxson said, “Jim’s hiring was multi-purpose. He’s played, scouted, and most important of all, he brings added experience and insight to my role having been VP and GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers . I felt strongly, that at this critical time in the Bulls’ development, an experienced voice would serve this organization well at many levels.”

well now we dont have to worry about Chicago anymore....before you know it they will be the new New York Knicks:chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

Jim makes Isiah look intelligent

Re: Bulls are going up in Flames!!!!!!!!

He needs to get them to give us their 1st round pick for next year, since he gave ours away for Jiri. It's only fair. That move ticked me off so bad. It was one last shot at screwing us before getting the ax. :thumbdown'

Just thinking about it, and why would you possibly bring this guy on as a consultant? Perhaps they just plan on using him like this: "OK, whatever Jim advises, make sure that you do NOT do it." :chuckles:

Eh, I guess this is just nepotism. I wish that I was Danny Ferry's brother so that I could be a consultant to the Cavs.

Re: Bulls are going up in Flames!!!!!!!!

Call him up and have him try convince John Paxson that Newble for Hinrich is a steal for Chicago.

Re: Bulls are going up in Flames!!!!!!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Paxson trade our first round pick for Jiri, and then turn around and trade Jiri for a second round pick?

Ferry traded Jiri for a second round pick that turned into Marty. Which wasn't a terrible move. We'll have to wait and see if Marty turns into anything, but Jiri's not worth a pair of gym socks.

It was Jiri for first round pick. But in order to do that he had to remove protection from a pick we owed the suns(subsequently passed to the bobcats) from like '99 involving wesley Person. The pick we owed the Suns could have alledgedly been returned to us at one point, for a pick swap in 02. But we had to stay at 6 and take Jaunnie.

Ferry traded Jiri for the pick that became Marty.

With this I agree. Even though the Cavs paid Jiri's salary, they still got the better end of this deal. Not only did the Bucks receive a clueless scrub, but we also received a clueless scrub that pulled a Tonya Harding and layed into the knee of the Bucks best defender (Charlie Bell) causing him to miss 9 weeks of action. As a result of Bell's injury, Jiri received more playing time which had catostrophic effects on our winning percentage.

In regards to Paxon, I wonder what took little bro so long to give him a job. Not even Jimmy can put a damper on the Bulls future.

"Fav Cav: Bogut & Villa...Best young frontcourt in the East"

I actually thought this arrangement had been going on for some time with pax and pax light both working/consulting with chicago. I remember hearing them discussing it during the pre-draft coverage when they were discussing the experience of chicago's front office. I wonder if this simply formalized it or if I'm just crazy.

That move will be viewed as one of the darkest in Buck's history when Marty develops into the next Dirk. :chuckles:

Jim Paxson signed by Bulls

LMAO @ Bulls - after all the nice moves they've made this offseason, they go & hire our good buddy Jim Paxson? Hope they want some draft advice from him! LOL

First move after the hire was to trade Chandler for PJ Brown and JR Smith..

Jim is still on the path..
