President Bush on Friday accused Russia of "bullying and intimidation" in its harsh military treatment of Georgia, saying the people in the former Soviet republic have chosen freedom and "we will not cast them aside."

I guess it's comparable...we stopped Hussein from doing to Kuwait what Russia is doing to Georgia. Hopefully they will heed our strong warnings and agree to an immediate ceasefire. The ethnic cleansing and destruction of innocent villages is also reminiscent of what Chemical Ali and Saddam's brother were doing in Iraq before we removed them from power.

There is no other reason that Russia is perpetrating this kind of carnage than we are are simply overextended militarily and they know it. They are going to rage against the machine as we continue to push this missile defense shield. For christs sake, Russia just today threatened Poland with a nuclear attack if they go through with sponsoring our missile defense system. They are clearly threatened by our relationship with their border states. On a side note, I just love the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili. He has made several appearances on CNN and seems to be a real intelligent guy. Love the fact that he speaks English and is keeping the situation transparent to the American people. Georgia is the 3rd largest supplier of troops to Iraq and have been trained by us for counterinsurgency. Unfortunately we weren't able to train them for an invasion. This situation should only escalate in the coming years.

Just from another objective point of view... The Russian invasion of Georgia was a response to Georgia's invasion of the autonomous region of South Ossetia. The Georgians have committed acts of aggression against the South Ossetians for several decades, especially since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Don't get me wrong, the Russians are way out of line; however we can't lose are perspective. Acting as though Georgia is a NATO ally (which they are not, and never should be. Bush is wrong and so is Obama and McCain), and dictating terms to Russia is not well advised.

We saw this coming *miles* away, and Georgia decided to preempt its allies in its invasion of South Ossetia. What did anyone think the Russians would do? They've been threatening the Georgians for years.

BTW, a missile shield in Poland? Imagine if Russia put a missile shield in Cuba, with a radial range reaching across the Southern Coast of the United States. They claimed it was for defense. Would we accept that? Not likely. --By all means, the United States should implement a missile defense shield; however, we shouldn't be surprised if Russia doesn't want it on their border, c'mon.

U don't know the situation because u don't live in Europe. South Osetia is part of Georgia, who the hell is russia to tell them what they can't do in their own land? Remember Chechen war with russia.
