Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can't remember my dad or my husband ever dragging women's sports. I'm glad I have the family I do, because I was rather happily oblivious to the contempt toward women's sports when I was growing up, and I may never have participated if I'd known it was as frowned upon in society as I've since learned it is.

Heck I can't remember my husband ever watching sports, lol, except UFC (which I got him into, contrary to stereotypes). He likes fitness, but finds team sports to be extremely boring; he's more the sci fi, D&D sort of dude. When dudes at his work go on about the KC Chiefs (we live in western MO), he tunes it out.

My dad, meanwhile, has always been an enthusiast, not a complainer. He coached some of my girls bball teams and watched the Comets when the WNBA came out. I stopped growing as a teen and decided I had a much better shot with academics than sports, but it was fun while it lasted.

Anyway, I'm glad I have a son rather than a daughter. It will be much easier for him to be into sports if he chooses, both biologically and socially.

In re Women vs Men, has a man ever swam from Cuba to Florida in open ocean, and if so at what age?

I've noticed a stark correlation between MMA fans and an intolerance for women in my decades of experience in sports.
Decades?

Caitlin Clark will make $76,000 salary next year for the Indiana Fever.

Dylan Windler gave the Knicks $659,000 of dead cap as his only lasting impression in NYC.

Caitlin Clark will sell out everywhere she goes.

Dylan Windler couldn’t sell out the practice gym.

She’s not gonna be hurting for money. Just signed a $20M signature shoe deal with Nike.

My mom is the one that got me into sports. Browns was my first sports love at 5 years old.

We still talk sports almost daily to this day, ALL cleveland for pro. We talk Purdue and she is a Ohio State alumni so we talk that too.

Her and I Never talk woman's sports as she doesnt watch them outside of ice skating, but I hate ice skating, any gender. I do watch maybe 5% of my sports veiwing on woman sports. I dont understand the hate for it though.

I will say though that a very knowledgeable female on male sports is just not weird to me as I personally grew up on it.

Who’s triggered? I tried to get into it. I tried to watch at the gym. They had the tournament on and I don’t find players running fast breaks and getting blocked without the defender even jumping entertaining. Just because they’re women doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be able to say I don’t like to watch it. It’s not because they’re women it’s because I find it a bad product. I’ll watch a movie or play a game as a female action star, no complaints. I don’t care about female super heroes beating up 100 men because guess what a man can’t di that either.
My post is coming from a place of love, don't let politics ruin life for you.

Don't have to watch if you don't want and it'd be cool if there was something else good to be entertained by. Clark and Reese etc are creating a good buzz for a league that has never done well, it'd be a good thing if it finally took off

I hope the turn into Bird/Magic and dominate the league and have a real rivalry at the pro level too. It will be good for the WNBA and ALL woman sports in general. I find the rooting against woman sports to be odd myself.

David hits softball homers off of 12 year old girl pitchers, @Thelastcavsfan . Don't listen to him!

Yeah, my mom was much more into sports, especially the deeper tactics and strategies of it, than my dad. My dad loves sports and is a big enthusiast, but he doesn't get into the systems aspect of it as much as my mom did. Back in the 70s when she was my dad's boss (not to mention over a decade older than him -- I still cannot get over just how unusual these sorts of things were almost 50 years ago), she would win most of the office sports contests by picking the right winners, stats, etc.

And yes she was into figure skating as well, lol. In fact, one of her bosses was Jill Trenary's father! I still have an autographed portrait of Jill that my mom got from him. She was naturally biased and thought Jill got robbed of a medal in 1988.

I don't like when the only options are bad team A vs. bad team B. I don't want to see Northwestern State vs. Southeastern Louisiana as an option in men's or women's basketball, baseball/softball, tennis, golf or any other sport.

Okay, maybe women's volleyball.

I think (mostly) men don't enjoy watching the athletic level and competition of certain women's sports when they know the comparable men's game is at a much higher level. That being said, women don't support live women's sporting events in droves, either.

I can't watch much of women's softball with their field having equal or shorter dimensions as a boy's top class of pony league. I hit balls farther than their home runs in the sixth grade. Why is a 20 year old woman playing on the same field as a twelve year old boy?

Men's and women's tennis (which I watch if randomly flipping through channels) have the same rules and parameters except for the 5 sets vs. 3 sets. Women's golf (I don't watch either) play from shorter tees but the course after that is the same. Track and field are the same.

WNBA dimensions are the same... except for the ball. That one inch smaller and two ounces lighter would have Steph Curry shooting every ball from half court. And the three point line is 20 inches closer to the basket.
Times change.

People have been complaining about men jacking threes (now) and refusing to move the ball (pre-Steph) for a few years now. So there’s a potential gap to fill there and it looks like some of these women took the call.

For years, the biggest issue with women’s basketball for me was that they played very stiff and just had no clue how to entertain. The very best women were ok and the worst were laughable. Now the best are highly entertaining and the worst are competent.

It’s clear they’ve been playing AAU ball and been playing and learning from boys for the last generation because they’re much smoother, but they still score in mid-range and play a more team-oriented game. They play with fire. They push and shove. They’re also getting real sign-off from male athletes.

And they’re women so some of us want to bang some of them. And some of us have daughters who want to play like them. That works out.

They have some runway to take off.

My mom knows to not talking figure skating with me...i just really dont care, lol

My kids have never been into sports, but last summer I appealed to my daughters genius level STEM mind (studying molecular cellular biology at the honors college straight A's, yes I am bragging on my daughter, deal with it, lol)

Anyways, my daughter was home from college and I told her how much baseball is stats driven. She started listening did some research with my help with the stats and fell in love with baseball.

Fast forward to a month ago when my daughter had to do a stats project for a "client" in her Data Science class (double major) and wrote computer programs for all of the Guardians 2023 stats. She ended up doing more than she needed, ofcourse got an A in the class, but I will use anything I can to get a child into a sport that I love, lol (first time it worked, wont force a kid to watch with me, they are allowed to be who they are)

Thought you would appreciate that story and while i am not into woman sports a ton, it will explain to why I am so defensive about women in sports, as a fan or athlete or coach or executive, its just that my whole sports fandom involves women.
