I'm gonna buy a zune and I want to strip all itunes songs of DRM. Does anyone know of a smooth easy way of doing this? I have about 100 songs and I don't want to lose them.

Thanks

Google search: idump -- it's a software that will download your songs to your computer from your ipod in a clean mp3 format.

You need to buy Tunebite. It strips the drm off of the songs you bought on itunes. I think its around $30. I just use limewire so I don't have to deal with DRM.....and paying in the first place haha.

iTunes downloaded audio files (M4P - "protected AAC") have DRM protection which prevent users from converting it to other formats or playing iTunes media with other incompatible players like Zune

So, you will need a professional DRM converter to convert the DRM M4P files to mp3 for zune.

Free download this converter, drag and drop the protected files to it:
http://www.wmatomp3-converter.com/digital-music-converter.html

It can convert the DRM protected music (wma,m4p) to any other formats and extract audios from DRM video (wmv, m4v, asf, etc).

Hope it helps:)

Or.........

zunepass for 15 bux.. and download everything you need over a weekend. Either be a pirate, or do it the legit way!

Does Zunepass have everything Itunes has on it ?

Zunepass won't work if you shut off the subsciption. You have to pay $15.00 a month for as long as you want the songs.

This isn't free, I go to convert the songs and it says it will only let them play for 1 minute, it wants me to buy it for $30.00 then there will be no limits. Does anyone know of a free way to convert the itunes to regular MP3?

Um...I don't know why everyon keeps telling you these other ideas that cost $...Idump is free.

Whenever I've ever downloaded something off of iTunes, I've always immediately burned them to a CD and then imported that CD through another MP3/media player (yahoo musicbox for example- but you should be able to rip CDs in iTunes as well).

The other media player will recognize the disc and I'd just rip the CD to my computer as MP3 tracks.

To be fair, I haven't bought anything from iTunes in over a year, so I'm not sure if it still works but I can't imagine why it doesn't.

Basically, when you buy music from iTunes, it comes with a copyright protection called DRM. These DRM-protected songs are locked so that they only work with Apple MP3 players. That means that if you bought a Microsoft Zune, you cannot use iTunes music.

So, what is the solution? You have to burn a CD. When you do this, the DRM is removed (because the music is converted to a non-DRM-compatible media). After you burn the CD, you can rip it to your PC as an MP3 file which no longer has DRM.

Alternatively, you can use TuneClone ( http://www.tuneclone.com/ ). TuneClone makes a virtual CD-ROM drive, tricking your PC into believing that you are burning a CD. Therefore, the DRM is removed without wasting a CD.

Here is a link to a tutorial using TuneClone and iTunes 8:
