Casspi Assfingers

I hope Casspi pulls it together. He's got great size and sometimes looks good. His shooting has been the biggest disappointment. He was supposed to be a good shooter.

I'll give him until the end of the season before I judge him. He's been disappointing so far, but last year was his first year with us with a shortened offseason.

I'm still holding out hope that he can at least be a decent role player on a winning team.

I'd like to see what he can do this year as well before throwing him by the wayside. He has some talent and good size, and isn't horrible defensively. But he appeared to be completely out of it mentally for most of last season - just zero confidence in himself, and it was painfully obvious on the court. If that can be rectified going forward I think he can be a contributor off the bench for a contender. Log 10-15 min a game, make some corner threes, play decent D and be scrappy. Unfortunately he just didn't seem to have the attitude that this role requires. Or, as Bill Simmons has coined it, "irrational confidence guy", a la Jason Terry. Casspi was the complete opposite of "irrational confidence guy" last year. Just brutal to watch.

It's hard to imagine Casspi not improving over last season considering how awful he was. There's nowhere to go but up. Fortunately for him Alonzo Gee is incredibly mediocre, so he still has a chance.

If he ends up showing up like we all hope, I really hope they trade him. His frustration is clear when he doesn't get a couple of calls during a game, and he escapes into his shell like a turtle. I don't like the way he deals with adversity, and it makes me think he will underperform if given the opportunity to play on a team that experiences challenges in the playoffs.

Re: Casspi Assfingers (Buyout?)

In tonight's home win against Serbia, featuring Milan Macvan and NenadKrstic, Casspi led all scorers.

23 points, on 66.7 % shooting from the field (3 of 5 from 3), 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 TO 1 steal and 1 BS.

Milan Macvan had 8 points and 5 rebounds, shooting 44.4 % from the field.

Omar Casspi Going Back To Basics

During his first two seasons in the league, forward Omri Casspi was starting to develop into a double-digit nightly producer with the Sacramento Kings. Not surprisingly when the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired the wing last year via trade expectations were high for a breakout season from Casspi.

It didn’t happen. Casspi struggled to a career low 40 percent shooting performance from the field and also posted career lows in three-point percentage (32%) and points per game (7.1).

Casspi feels he has to get back to the basics and play more to his strengths.

“Basically, I just have to go back to playing my basketball,” Casspi told Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv this week. “To be good, effective, to punish — everything I didn’t do last season. I need to go back to my old self.”

The Cavaliers recently signed veteran forward C.J. Miles in free agency which may also eat into Casspi’s minutes in the rotation this season. But Casspi isn’t worried for the moment.

“I know that the team brought more players on the wings, and everybody in Cleveland is good,” Casspi said. “But none of us is an All- Star. We don’t have Kobe [Bryant] or LeBron [James] there. Coach [Byron] Scott says that whoever is better will play, and I believe him.”

Compared to Casspi's performance last season, anyone with a pulse looks like an all-star to me.

Casspi made a lot of mistakes in the first half of the season. He had a maddening talent for committing the senseless foul or turning over the ball at exactly the wrong moment. Toward the end of the season he started to improve, IMO. But he has a long way to go to be a steady contributor. I think Gee and Miles are going to give him a run for the money.

Casspi does have some upside to his game and perhaps a normal offseason is just what the doctor ordered in regards to everything. He was playing better at the end of the season and if he can keep up decent production, i like his skills as a player off the bench for us. He should be able to crack the rotation in some sort of way as he's got good length. Personally, i hope his legs like right this season. Theyalways looked like they were going to give out on him last year.

Anyone have any video that shows how he's moving? Is his lateral movement coming back, or was this just luck? :dunno:

We don't need him becoming amazing again too quickly...might blow our draft position :chuckles:
