Cavs looking at S&T for Johnson, Bosh

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think it's quite that way though, Cm. That conversation goes a little more like this.

Lebron: Hey Chris, I am re-signing in Cleveland.
Bosh: Okay Lebron. Lemme handle this. BRIIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!

Yeah. Kinda like that.

Whether or not Colangelo goes for an S&T with us is a good question..

I think this argument is kind of mute. I would think they would come to lebron before they turn down such offer, based upon that, making their decision. It's not like they wont entertain the thought. And i'm sure if Lebron gave them his word upon returning if they sign off on it, such a deal could happen.

Thanks for reiterating what I said lol.

People keep saying nothing can happen until LeBron re-signs. Am I seriously the only person who thinks these two things can brew simultaneously? Hey LeBron, if you want me in Ctown..I'll request an S&T there...Okay Chris, yeah, I'll re-sign if you do that...Sounds like we got a deal...Aight peace.

No way I'm the only one.

The underlying fact is that Bosh or Johnson or whatever big-name FA will not be playing in Cleveland unless LeBron is donning a #6 Cavs Jersey. It's pretty simple.

Obviously...

Joe Johnson? No thanks. He will get overpaid no matter who signs him. Not to mention he had a pretty bad playoff series this past year and was even booed at home. No. Bosh is a must and will actually be worth his paycheck. Joe Johnson would just be a glorified role player that is getting paid tons of cash.

that's because his coach, similar to Mike Brown, wasnt the smartest offensive coach. the Hawks' gameplan was to run iso after iso after iso after iso after iso after iso and as a defense it's easy to lock-in on someone when all they do is run isos. if we get a decent coach with a good offensive mind, Joe Johnson wouldnt have a repeat of this past off-season.

I'm with you. That's the only way it will happen. Cavs tell Lebron we'll get anyone here he wants, just pick. He says Bosh. Cavs tell Bosh that Lebron will re-sign here if he demands a trade here. Toronto has to trade with us or risk getting nothing. We trade for Bosh, Lebron re-signs. One can't happen without the other being agreed to. Bosh won't ask for a trade here without Lebron agreeing to sign here....and vice versa.

Never thought they'd do anything last night. Only way the Cavs improve is through trades and Lebron re-signing. I think they are keeping all their ammo available until they meet with him and find out what he wants. Basically they will tell him to pick who he wants to play with...and who he wants to coach. It's really the Cavs only play at this point. If he leaves they'll go in a completely different direction. So there's no point in doing anything until they meet with him and get his thoughts after free agency starts. Only thing Grant can do for the next week is start laying the groundwork for potential trades.

Didn't Lebron already meet with Dan Gilbert?

Didn't Lebron already meet with Dan Gilbert?

Yep, but I'm sure he's going to give us a last at bat after doing the StrokeMyLeEgo Tour. I don't think he will make a decision for about 30 days from now. He'll go around and talk to everyone and let them make their pitch. Then he'll come back to us. Then he'll go back to a short list of a couple teams and then come back to us. Then make a decision. The attention he is getting(and stress he is causing) right now is 10% of what it will be in 3-4 weeks.

Dan Gilbert's back is certainly against the wall, anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. That said he does have a lot of weapons. We won 127 games the last 2 years...who else can say that? Dan Gilbert will explain to Lebron that with his help we can bring in a Chris Bosh and massively upgrade his supporting cast. Our MLE will also be significant. There are going to be MLE+ worthy players that will have to settle for the MLE. Toronto will not get near equal value for Bosh if he demands a trade here....but it's better that they get something than nothing. IF Lebron comes back, if we trade for Bosh, get a solid MLE player and fill out with a couple ring chasing vet mins we could be vastly improved. Gilbert will make sure Lebron understands this and understands that he will spend any amount of money to do it. Then it's all up to Lebron. Is he set on leaving or is this all an elaborate smoke-screen to improve the Cavs? Only he and his very inner-circle know....maybe they don't even know yet. Bottom line is I don't think the NBA will know for a month. Just my opinion...

One other point...

I'm sure Gilbert and Grant also have a few solid coaches that would gladly accept the HC position if Lebron agrees to come back. Gilbert can use that in his sales pitch - "Lebron, I've spoken to JVG and Byron, etc, etc, etc....they've all said they would be happy to coach here if you re-sign. Who do you want?" So while it may look bleak today, I don't consider the not having a coach issue as a major concern for Lebron.

So

Telfair, Moon, Hickson, West, Eyenga, Jamison

For

Bosh, Turkoglu

Maybe they send Jamison to another team making it a 3 way for expirings. As well as a Mo for Calderon option if need be?

Mo, Gibson
Parker, Green
LeBron, Hedo, Jawad
Bosh, Powe
Andy, Z

With MLE to get another big or two.

What would we S&T to Atlanta to make them trade with us?

JJ, Mo Evans, Mike Bibby

for

Mo Williams, Delonte West, Danny Green, Future First?

They dont really need a PF, so sending JJ is worthless, they're set at SF, C, we upgrade their PG a bit, and then theres SG..

Everything is all up to and all depends on LeBron. He has the franchise hostage right now. Kind of a scary thought.

LeBron can make the situation better in Cleveland if he wants. Like we've discussed he can go out and strongly recruit Bosh to come here and the Cavs are a very good option for a S&T deal with Toronto.
With all the media praise for Chicago and Miami it was left out that they hurt their ability to pull off S&T's, especially for Bosh since he and the Raptors are very open to that.

I always thought it was virtually guaranteed LeBron was staying but now I really don't know anymore. His lack of demonstrating a commitment here and helping to bring in talent certainly hasn't helped the franchise. He's partially to blame if he uses a lack of talent excuse for him leaving.

From Mike & Mike:

Chris Broussard: "If Lebron asked you to come to Cleveland in a sign & trade would you consider it?"

Bosh: "Of course I would consider it because with LeBron we would become a championship contender right away."
I'm not sure what exactly LeBron is waiting for... why consider signing with another team when he can have another superstar right here at home and run for a title? By extending his free agency he is only further reducing his chances at landing other talent.

He needs to commit to the Cavaliers, make his pitch to Bosh, sit back, and watch the pieces fall in place.

Now, if he doesn't re-sign after this, then he really is not worthy of your City. If he can get him here (Bosh would get MAX money also. so ++ for Bosh and TOR gets something good back now after Mia,Chi cleared almost everything worth trading for). He should be hanged by the media like a bitch he will be, if he bolts.

If Chicago is out of the race- what the hell does Miami have to offer for Bosh at this point? Beasley? Ehh...

Get it done Grant!

Amare called you, he wants go get back together. You know he's an awful rebounder.:chuckles:
