This USA team doesn't look all that great. Not a lot of ball movement and they have a hard time getting the ball to Davis in scoring position. Harden has played well but it's all ISO ball from him and anywhere else.

Irving has looked ok: he's at least tried to get a drive and kick game going

Have no idea why Rose on this team: just doesn't bring anything that they don't have in Irving and Curry. A guy like Lillard with his jumpshooting would be a much better fit. If this is a loyalty reward then he should at least be at the bottom of the bench along with Plumlee

Just one word: ridiculous!!
Not only doesn't he bring ANYTHING to this team but with his "bench presence" in garbage time, he forces our starting point guard too play more minutes...

One of the joys of travel is you get to see how other cultures perceive what's normal to you and vice versa. On the international stage, cynically throwing games is received as a form of corruption that FIBA should address. In our domestic league, cynically throwing games has been normalized as just another strategy. Or, in Philadelphia, the defining feature of your franchise.

In this particular instance, Australia benched two of its best players, Aron Baynes and Joe Ingles. They also barely played Matthew Dellavedova and David Andersen. This, one presumes, was part of an effort to stave off playing Team USA for longer by finishing third in Group D, which is currently led by Dragic's Slovenia at 4-0.​

So Australia's tank strategy worked as Lithuania knocked off Slovenia to take the group. The Aussies by finishing 3rd in the group will avoid any potential matchup with the USA until the semis. How awesome would it be to see Kyrie v Delly at the point?
