Given that Ford supposedly bases his rankings on projections from actual teams/executives, I really don't understand what he'd stand to gain by editing his mocks to begin with. They really just showcase how the draft is a crapshoot, and that even teams with dedicated scouting departments get things wrong more than they get them right.
That was my reaction when I heard this story. The value Ford brings is the insight into front office thinking. Now you do have to read his reporting between the lines, since sometimes he misinterprets what he is told, but he still is a good source of information.
I'm always careful to distinguish between what he is hearing from his sources and what he thinks about the players. His own personal opinions are pretty much valueless.
