Frye in February: .353 from the floor, .200 from three
Frye in January: .391 from the floor, .221 from three
He's played 250 minutes in that span of time...he got pushed out in favor of the youth movement.
Bingo. This is really what I am hoping for. We can let Frye take Love's role of standing at the 3 point line, and put Love in the post/mid range and let him go to work where he is best and most comfortable. If this turns into a better fit that maximizes Love and makes him more comfortable, it could be priceless.Frye will be able to pull the C away from the basket and let Kevin work in less traffic.
And amazing for Kyrie/Lebron drives Love/Lebron post ups.I'm aware that Orlando wasn't doing him any favors. He got cold right around this time in 14-15 as well however. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
A lineup of Irving, Shump/JR, LeBron, Love, and Frye is going to be lethal from the outside.
Overall Channing Frye is a below average defender. Opponents shoot .8% better against him than they average.
The guy is deadly when left wide-open. He averages 51.7% on wide-open threes with a 73.2% eFG% on all wide-open shots, and averages 40.7% on catch-and-shoot 3s with a 56.5% eFG% on all catch-and-shoot shots.
Don't expect Frye to make or break the season. I don't think this is a trade that puts us into the top-tier (Warriors, Spurs) of teams; but, it does let us match up much better against the top-tier of teams. Overall it is a net positive, even though I'm sad to lose Andy.
Who did we get? Charlie Frye? Channing Tatum?
