Channing Frye

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I find it funny that there were plenty of people on here that were surprised that he can still play.

Frye's not really playable against Golden State, but he's very playable against pretty much everyone else.

He’s been big for us in the east playoffs the last 2 years.

He and Shump may screw up a lot but I hope we don’t trade them for nothing.

I still disagree with this. Our lack of bench productivity killed us, but we refused to play a guy as consistent and deadly as Frye because...why exactly? Defense? Makes me laugh, since we weren't doing shit to stop GS's onslaught anyways.

Our team was built to outgun and outshoot the Warriors; Lue did everything to ensure that we played "their game". So why sit a guy who led the league in 3pt % a large portion of the year?

Pretty shameful how we played into the Warriors' hands rather than making them adjust to Frye's marksmanship.

I was just going to say this. I think we assume he is unplayable against GS based on nothing.

I actually think he would match up very well against any big man GS except Durant or Green. When they have one of the other pf's or centers in, Frye stretches their bigger defenders out and if they are trying to beat us with Zaza's or JaVale's offense then we win. Plus i think he can play an aging West just fine.

Green at center makes it a tough matchup for Frye, but I do think he is playable for sure. Green only plays center about 20 mins a game.

How about if you play with my nuts?

I think it also means you have to employ a different defensive scheme. The issue with playing Frye against GS the past 2 years is that you really can't use him to switch onto guards because he can't get up on them enough because Klay and Curry both can shoot with so little space.

The more and more I'm thinking about these potential trades for a blockbuster center (Cousins, Gasol, Jordan, etc.), the more I'd rather ship Thompson + Shump out instead of Frye + Shump.

Our play has picked up ten-fold on the offensive side of the ball since Thompson's injury and Frye was slotted back into the rotation. A lot of teams have good three point shooting big men, but very few have lethal seven foot snipers like Frye.

He's got a role. He's important. He shouldn't be used as salary filler in a trade at this point considering how slim we are on the front lines.

Jose Calderon and Channing Frye: the defensive cornerstones of our franchise.

Who'dve thunk it?

Plus he’s better than advertised on defense. I was told repeatedly that he isn’t playable in normal rotation minutes because he can’t defend...but he’s been holding his own defensively and has been a fantastic shooter as expected offensively.

He's slow but he covers ground.

I watched him that first year against gs. He was nowhere near as bad as people were making him out to be

Definitely agree with this: Frye till you get to GS (along with the other shooters) has made this team an unbeatable scoring machine in the playoffs. Don't see that being any different and I think we're very likely to be better then last year if IT gets back to where he was. The bench is so much better.

Truly is amazing how good of a shooter this guy is...he will not play for games on end, and come off the bench and just nail a 3pt shot.

No hes not a match winner, no hes not athletic, no he cany defend, no he cany dribble but he is a unicorn on our team, a 3 point shooter who can actually hit 3's, looking at you kev and j.r
