Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Great idea.....this will be all over the news which will create a lot of attention. Who cares if it is all for the wrong reason, it serves the purpose. TO GET LEBRON TO SEE HOW MUCH CLEVELAND FANS WANT HIM TO STAY!!!! It shows that they would potentially go to jail to get a message out to him, LeBron would be impressed. I guarantee it.

I completely disagree. It's not like we are saying "Impeach the president." We have public opinion on our side. Why break the law when we can contact every politician and powerful Clevelander we collectively know to override this very unpopular decision?

This is a great opportunity for politicians, both Republican and Democrat, to get some good press and win over voters. All they need is YOUR voice, RCF. Let them know how many of us are out there. The Mayor can over-ride this decision. Let's make him do it.

If I were still a registered Ohio voter, I'd be all over it.

IANAL (I am not a lawyer...or I <3 ANAL) but from reading the revised code for Cleveland.....they would tell you to take down the banner within 48 hrs. If you fail to do that, they'd take it down themselves and make you pay for it.

Just sayin'.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Tell me why he wouldn't like to see this...

Well, LeBron for obvious reasons.

Gilbert because he might want to ensure LeBron has his space. It's a forceful message, and though I personally like it, I'm not sure if that's what the Cavs as an organization want to send.

Like I said that's just one way that I see this. And the overall point is that I don't think its a given that the Cavs and LeBron would want this up. That's all.

EDIT - I very much agree with Randolphkeys that the way to go is to go through the political side. That makes a great deal of sense.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Man, just got home and read everything. The little lady & I were so hyped to see it tomorrow, but hopefully there'll be another chance soon. Still hoping to stop by Nicks before the game though for a beer!

But also, I know it's not as impactful as Day 1, but if the Cavs-Bull series somehow makes it to 5 games, the next home game is next Sunday at 3:30pm, and is another ABC game. If this somehow gets resolved this week, that'd be another great opportunity to unveil.

I agree, it is a forceful message. The Cavaliers organization will do everything they can to not compromise their position with LeBron (assuming they think this billboard would do so)

Its just one explanation for it falling through at the last minute.

I still love the poster though.. im not trying to bash it AT ALL

Story is billboard paid 4 by fans ( http://bit.ly/a7XOny ) to re-sign LBJ being stopped by red tape. Have asked mayor for override.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

This is why Windy always has our support.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Love it, Windy getting involved!

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

From what I understand, and as Glen posted in the first message in the thread, the decision was made by a city government official. There has been no indication that the Cavs have been involved whatsoever (yay or nay).

Whether the Cavs or LeBron would want to publicly support the billboard is a separate question. Speculation about those issues is natural, but at this juncture, I wouldn't place any blame on the Cavs for the hold-up.

I agree that going through the media and local politicians is a very promising strategy for reasons stated above.

Edit: I wrote this before Windy's tweet. :D
