City does a 180... Lebron banner approved and being installed now

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Someone just tell a city representative that we will build a speed/red light camera next to the billboard. That should be enough incentive for Frank Jackson to grant us permission to proceed with the original plan of hanging the billboard tomorrow.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

And people wonder why this city is having so many problems...

That's the worst, dumbest reason I have ever heard. I mean, really, how many safety concerns does a fucking billboard present to the people of Cleveland?

Screw these people. Put it up anyway.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

(I'd also read the part on Wall Murals, maybe that could apply).
(12) Wall Mural. A sign that displays high resolution static or electronic graphic or photographic images, including decorative art and art used in commerce, placed on an unsightly wall of a building, or unsightly roof surface generally parallel to the building wall surface. A wall mural may display words in accordance with Section 350.161 and otherwise shall comply with Section 350.161. A wall mural may depict or direct attention to a specific business, product, service, entertainment activity, or other activity. Wall murals shall not be deemed billboards or wall signs for purposes of Chapters 350 and 341 of this Zoning Code and Chapters 161, 303, 3113, and 317 of the Codified Ordinances.

(c) Design Requirements.

(1) Primarily Pictorial. The sign shall display non-verbal graphic or non-verbal photographic images, and may display words. (2) Type of Medium. The medium for the display shall be electronic as a static or moving image or a combination of each, or as a static image upon a single sheet of vinyl or other material that presents a high-resolution image (“other high-resolution material”). A display is “electronic” if its images, while being displayed on the wall mural, are generated by computer or otherwise by the controlled conduction of electrons or other charge carriers.

(3) Vinyl or other High-Resolution Medium. If the medium is vinyl or other high-resolution material, it shall comply with all of the following:

Micheal Scott's blog has been edited:

One -- a billboard-sized banner (above), which was to be unfurled downtown Saturday but hit a snag Friday afternoon with the city over a permit -- tries to boldly speak into reality the longed-for answer to the 'LeBron question:' Born here. Raised here. Plays here. Stays here.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

It's possible someone could get a hold of a state representative or a state senator, sometimes if you get tangled in red tape with the local government, the state government officials can help you out.. I aspire to be in state government some day, and just by talking to a few state representatives, they spent a lot of time on constituent service anyway..

It's worth a shot.. I'm not from the area, but if you wanted to send a polite message over to a state representative of that district, it might be helpful..

To expand upon this, I found the list of representatives who represent Ohio, I'm not sure which district the bar would be in exactly but here is the list of current house members. (A member of the senate would certainly suffice as well) http://www.house.state.oh.us/index.php?option=com_displaymembers&Itemid=73

17th district state representative Josh Mandel is someone who I have met on a few different occasions and seems like the type of person that might be able to get us help if we wanted to start contacting people at the state government level.. It's probably not something he can do immediately but I imagine he or his staff would be able to point us in the right direction to someone who can help us eliminate this red-tape... these government officials are in place to be there for the constituents and to represent us so anyone we talk to should be more than willing to help. This might be a time where we need to go over the heads of the local government.

But Glen, this is at your discretion, if you'd like me to send an e-mail over to the offices of a few of these people just let me know. I'm just letting you guys know who weren't sure, it's very easy to do, and at the state level they will tend to give you a timely response.

This is an unfair action against the people.. when Nike wants to keep up a banner, the city lets that happen, but now that the people fund and want to put up a banner it's not allowed

We will find justice, it unfortunately will probably just take some time :(

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Lets paint the fucker on there :chuckles: I'd be willing to give up a few days on a weekend hah wish the money wasn't already gone for the billboard

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

I mass emailed all Cleveland Media Members I could get an email address for, in particular members at WTAM, ESPN Cleveland, Channel 5, and Channel 8.

Hopefully someone from each Media outlet does something about it.

Glad to see WKYC will be doing a story tomorrow..

This is a goddamn outrage. Majority should rule in this instance... never should one person have that much authority locally.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

When I saw this on Twitter I was flabbergasted.

How much stupider can the city of Cleveland get?

What a shame.

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

thankfully, we have 2 months of Cavaliers basketball for LeBron to see it! We'll get justice.. and he will see it

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Man, this really sucks. Having seen the amount of hard work and effort it has taken to get this project to become a reality then to have it taken away by some hooker using middle aged fool is a real sucker punch.

I hope there is a resolution to this, I really do :(

Re: LeBron Banner DENIED by the City of Cleveland

Hey guys, Corey here, wanted to say that this is an amazing effort and billboard here, and I hope it goes up. This "Building Manager" guy must be a member of CavsFucknatic. Notice I've been over there sticking up for it, and I will post links to articles as much as I can to piss them off.

Anyway, for today's issue, I think if you call this guy, he will "Make Them Pay".
