CJ Miles & The Cavs Option

His FG% for the first 10 games last year was 0.300. He finished the season with a stellar 0.381.
He is very streaky and can get hot for the next 10 games but then cool off again and look as bad as he looks right now. At the end of the day his career stats pretty much tell the story - the guy likes to shoot a lot and he makes them at a low percentage.
He does have some talent. You can't have a career high of 40 points without having some talent... But the lack of basketball IQ is preventing him from reaching his full potential. After 7 years in the league I don't think he is going to get much better.

Its quite obvious most people did not watch CJ Miles play over the last few years given the amount of "Wow, this guys sucks!" posts I've seen.
What did people think they were getting? He's never been all that good.

True, but he's never been quite this bad. I'm in a deep fantasy league, and I've capitalized on a few hot streaks from CJ over the years. I imagine we'll see him heat up at some point this season. He won't keep it going for longer than a week, but I guarantee there'll be some twenty-point games. Some people may be encouraged when this happens. They shouldn't be.

Like a few folks have stated, Miles will snap out of it but it would appear he's never ever going to shake that inconsistency which has plague his entire career. Based off the stats, it is pretty clear what he needs to do and that is put his head down and get to the hoop a small bit. In all honesty though, some of the shots he's been taking ARE good shots, he just hasn't made many/any of them.
I thought him playing with the first unit in the preseason did him a disservice when the actual season began as you can see the lack of cohesion on that second unit. I think Byron hoped a vet like CJ would help stabilize it however it hasn't happen as of yet. Basketball is SUCH a game of confidence though, you will see him emerge from this much and i think it will happen soon.

Well, I guess it's time to go back to Miles. I can certainly see why Scott was so hesitant to play Casspi. He's just as bad. Guess we just keep rotating between the three clowns (Walton included) and hope on a random night one of them manages to get their heads of out of their asses and does something productive on the court.
