Cleveland Browns New Head Coach Search, 2014

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Whether they weren't able to sell it because of the perception of the organization, or because they were rebuffed in putting out a feeler to him, the point remains the same.

I have a hard time believing Gase's lack of interest comes down to a timing issue with the Super Bowl.

Completely agree here, just saying that we never got the chance to sell him on the job.

So there's this:

@MarcSesslerNFL: One thing Pettine is constantly searching for: BITCH-KITTIES, his term for havoc-wreaking pass rushers. He'd thrive in AFC North. #Browns

Holy hell, this is great.

"BITCH-KITTIES" itself just sold me on Pettine :chuckles:

Looks like there might be an end in sight:

That's been my problem with Gase from the start...

Why should the Browns have to sell Gase on the job? Gase should be selling the Browns on him..

Any time the power dynamic like that shifts, I get weary about what it means for both parties...

If we hire him....would he push us to take Clowney over a QB? Not sure how that would play out.

You have the 4th pick in the draft and Hoyer who, you can spin it however you want, looked good in limited time.

No, not really. How many teams have depended upon their RB this year? Oh Minnesota?

Gone.

Trying to spin Gordon negatively?

Unless you suck completely, you'll have at least a year.

Huge questions in the front office, of course, that must be vetted. You're just wrong, though, that another shitty record team is the answer to current head coach candidates over the Browns one. They all are shitty for a reason or two, each guy just has to debate what matters most. Ya, that's easier to do with multiple options.

When has a draft pick been a for sure thing? Especially in a draft like this for QBs. I like Hoyer, quite a bit actually. But how can you depend on him when he has no track record. How do you know the offensive scheme is going to work for him? How is that spinning it? That is nothing but facts.

You HAVE to have a running game to some extent. Especially when you don't have any great QB running the offense.

I think Gordon is a hell of a WR. He's a fucking beast. How is it spinning it negatively when it's the truth? Another fuck up and he's gone for a year. Your telling me that can't be a concern? To lose your star for a whole season? Come on dude.

What can you do in a year as a coach when you don't that good of a team? This isn't KC and your not hiring Andy Reid. You need more than a year to turn around such a shitty franchise as the Browns have been.

A shitty record doesn't mean the team is exactly shitty. So your theory of next year another shitty team isn't better than the Browns is bullshit. Take this year for example. What team were the Browns more attractive than to coach? Maybe the Vikings but that's literally it.

Get away for. Your homer view of the Browns never can do any wrong and you will see.

I want the Browns to do well and root for them in games they aren't playing my team. You say I'm spinning shit, yet all you do is spin everything. You won't even admit to facts.

And as to Gase having to sell himself to the Browns, why? What have the Browns proven that people need to woo them?

What kind of coach wants to uproot his family and move across the country to coach the Browns when they know they are on a one year leash?

Until the Browns can show they are willing to have a coach do his job and leave him be for a couple years atleast, especially when the players show improvement, good luck getting a great coach.

Looks like if the Browns go with Quinn, they could be looking at Kubiak and Gray as coordinators:

League source said Ten DC Jerry Gray was taking lesser job on Minn staff but wants to wait 4 Clev now. Feels DC job is his if Quinn is hired
— Will Burge (@WillBurge) January 21, 2014

Gray seems interesting. :chuckles:

"If you are worrying about that, you are not going to go out and try and blow the guy up," Gray said Thursday, according to The Tennessean. "Great football players have to put that out of their mind. You have to say, 'This is my territory between the numbers, and if you throw the football, you better bring the Gator truck.' And that's how you have to play. You can't play timid in the NFL." "The Gator truck" is a term used to describe the vehicle that carries injured players off the field.
