Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Definitely an oversight on my part, he's a guy who can make a big jump this year as well.

Just wish he got a bit more coaching on mechanics and footwork. Not a huge fan of his coach.

Agreed, it's really too bad he's at Cal an that...weird ass offensive system.

He's got all the talent, size, and leadership abilities to be a great QB in the NFL, though. He should come out next year too, which is exciting.

Honestly, the only guys I've seen from next year's class who I'd draft in the first round is Cook and Goff. The rest are all kind of mediocre. The fact that Hackenburg is considered a top of the class QB should tell you all you need to know.

Not obvious at all, honestly.

Really? Urban is going to make a show of it, but it's between Braxton and Cardale and I can't FATHOM he doesn't continue to go to the guy who just won him the championship.

You could be right, I just don't see it.

I was afraid to ask what all the hype is about Hackenberg because I don't really understand it. Granted, I've seen him play like...6-7 games.

Nobody knows more than Urban that "the guy" didn't win him a championship.

The team he built did, and it's why they were able to support three quarterbacks on their way to winning it.

I would imagine that Zeke Elliot had a lot more to do with winning the title than Cardale did.

In fact...I'd be willing to bet that Elliot goes higher than Cardale does in the next draft. Elliot will probably be a top 10-15 pick.

BTW, if we are doing long, long range scouting here...2017 draft, Brad Kaaya. His year as a true freshman at Miami was incredible. Big guy, strong arm, fairly accurate.

Right, so Braxton would have gotten those balls to Devin Smith? It's a team game, but it's hilarious to see people diminish Cardale's play in those games.

It's Cardale's to lose. If he plays all season like he did in those three games, both he and Zeke will be top 10 picks. And Bosa, obviously.

He has all the unteachable tools a coach could dream of. He doesn't have any elite talent around him, and last year, he really struggled. He'll be a top pick because some team (I hope not us) will overlook production for measurable and arm talent.

I get how we got here... (Fail for Cardale), but this thread has gone towards an OSU thread. It's VERY early to start talking about the 2016 QB crop..

Many of those deep balls to Smith were pretty well under thrown, despite his arm strength.

Also worth noting that lobbing it up deep isn't the measure you want to judge a QB on.

But as I said, Meyer has a pretty good handle on things.

We ll see. Like I said you could be right. Id be surprised though.

It's not between Jones and Miller. It's between Jones and Barrett. I'd be surprised if Miller is even playing QB when he is cleared to play again. Miller's the third best thrower and the top runner. His contribution to the team will be with his legs, not his arm. It's also his only future if he wants to play in the NFL.

Jones has the better arm and, I guess, the better power run game (if that's a thing for a QB). Barrett does everything else better. He's a noted leader, runs the read-option to perfection, and throws WRs open better.

It'll be tough to sit the player who made that 3 game run, so I won't be surprised if Jones is named the starter, but anyone who thinks it's a done deal is probably wrong.

And now back to the Browns.

Because the QB situation involving four terrible quarterbacks is so fascinating. How dare we discuss the future! :chuckle:
