Cleveland Indians Offseason News, Notes, and Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How about John Lackey and Carl Crawford of Boston?

I read today somewhere about the idea of talking to Boston.

Interesting though.

I'm actually wondering now if we make any real deals at all this off season. What's the likelihood we do almost nothing to the likelihood we do make some kind of splash?

Carl Crawford has the worst contract in baseball.

Lackey also has a horribly overpriced contract and is divorcing his wife who is battling cancer.

No...no thanks.

The article was simply saying those two never had done well in Boston throughout their careers to date, and may do better with a change. I was just putting out the info. Can't find the article now.

Well, if you're willing to bet $45 million over three years that John Lackey just needs a change of scenery....By all means, go for the glory.

I'm not taking that bet. Same for Crawford and the $120 million still left on his deal.

Those guys career numbers don't warrant that kind of money, before they started declining.

Gosh; not sure what you didn't understand about my post? LOL

I was PUTTING OUT THE INFO. I didn't give a damn opinion about those two players. Geesh.

You try your best to make arguments where there is no arguments to be made.

The contracts for those two make them radioactive to a team like the Tribe- just too long and too much to take a risk like that and I dont see the BoSox eating too big a chunk of these guys' salaries after just one bad year each.

I think it is a given they spend some money on a FA- IF they can find one to take their money. Remember it takes to to tango, and a number of clubs will be after the 2nd tier guys like Cuddyer. I have a strange feeling they end up with Carlos Pena.

Never said they were your arguments. I was speaking in generalities.

Pop a Xanax gramps...

I think the Red Sox have to move Lackey after what went down at the end of the season, even if they have to eat a good portion of the contract.

You asked the question, how about John Lackey and Carl Crawford?

He answered no thanks with his reasons why (reasons I, most others here, and probably you, would agree with).

You both make arguments out of nothing at times, and you guys should keep your internet fight going on the off topic board if you absolutely must.

I'm literally not even trying anymore. I'm simply giving my opinion on why Lackey/Crawford is a profoundly stupid idea.

Yeah I agree. Just thought I'd say something as an unbiased third party because I haven't been reading the boards much lately, but it seems every time I do it involves an argument over nothing between you two. This ones on Doug, yeah, but I've seen it go both ways. Just saying regardless of who's fault, nobody cares about your weird hate for one another. You guys should both read posts before reading who posts them. No need to get defensive when nobody is arguing with you.

I'm not sure I've ever gotten defensive.

More or less it's been over the top picking on the guy, I'll admit.

My fault for taking the bait I guess, it's obvious he can openly try and bait people with erratic comments (Kipnis over Votto, for example).

Not a shot at Doug, but you said, "How about Lackey or Crawford?", as if you were seriously considering the options.

Lackey, Ibelieve, was the worst starting pitcher in baseball this year. Add his off the field drama, his being out of shape and you have a player that would make me consider signing Phil Niekro over him. In other words, he's fucking terrible.

Crawford isn't getting traded and it wouldn't make sense in any way, shape or form. I have to believe he does better next year ( really he can't do worse ). If he was 27 years old, it would still be too much.

Outside of Prince and Albert, this FA class sucks a bag of dicks. Cuddyer scares me, as he's probably gonna ask for some nice dough, considering he's a top 5-10 fielding FA.

CJ Wilson, Sabathia, Chen and Dempster are the top pitchers. Not a bad class, but the only guy we could afford is Chen.

Add in Oswalt, Maholm, Marquis, Harden, and Buerhle too.

I'd probably take those guys over Chen.
