Okay, so what do I tell my know it all friend that states we drafted Patrick Beverley at #8?

I have yet to see any analysis of Sexton's game from a few of the people who are just venting.

Care to be the first? What about his game concerns you? Be specific. Use evidence.

33.6% three point shooting from the college line.

two point percentage below 50% against college competition

poor assist to turnover ratio

slightly below average size for a PG

scouts cite his ceiling as Eric Bledsoe, who is a good player but not a superstar

at 19 and very raw as a lead guard his developmental schedule does not match well with lebron

seems like limited ceiling and poor match next to LBJ

Bad, poor mechanical shot, no vision, undersized with poor handles. Basically a try hard type.

He’s the dumb sports guy pick

Like, he’s terrible in every advanced stat. He doesn’t possess one elite skill.

However if U watched college b-ball casually he had some decent games against bums. He trended on twitter after playing 3 on 5 and scoring.

He’s such a Gilbert pick. Dan heard some stuff and then met a gritty little guy, he was smitten.

I wish griff would have made this pick.

Dan Gilbert sucks.

you just can't compare a project player like Sexton to Kyrie at this point. Kyrie's handles and clutch shooting, including three point shooting, were at the very highest all-NBA, borderline historic type level. Even if Sexton significantly improve his handles and shooting it's unlikely he would ever match Kyrie in those areas. They are just very different players. Sexton has some physical/athleticism strengths Kyrie did not as well.

He was the consensus best point guard going into the college season. Had he been in Kyrie's draft he would've competed for him as the #1 pick

That Patrick Beverley would have ensured that the Cavs wouldn't have been swept in the Finals and possibly could have won it, and the Cavs just drafted someone who has a higher ceiling than said player with a pick they would not have had otherwise

He dominated Trae Young head to head. He's a very solid selection. Dude is crazy competitive

Catch and shoot.

I agree with you on that lacking. Do you have stats on how well he shoots specifically off the dribble, because I've seen a number of highlights of him hitting threes off the dribble. We previously agreed that is the harder skill to learn. Old fucks like me can learn to shoot threes from a standstill, but I do believe playing off the ball will take time for Sexton.

An NBA team drafted Anthony Bennett #1. I don't really get the argument behind this?
Anthony Bennett was the worst draft pick in NBA history, so OBVIOUSLY every Cavalier draft pick YOU don't agree with has to be JUST as horrible. Is That the argument YOU GET?

dude...Derrick Williams was in Kyrie's draft and competed with him to be the #1 pick.

anyway, I hope this works out.

Well rumors out are saying LBJ didn't wanna be a full time point forward anymore. Sexton gives the team someone who can create his own shot and maybe in SL with better talent around him we can see if he has any talent at passing. Cedi and Zizic playing with him give him a wing to kick it out to and a big down low.

I was not excited about pick as well. I wanted Carter jr. or Bamba after Porter concerns. After looking up some videos,Sexton's court vision looks pretty good except around a bunch of nobodies at Alabama. Look at Wades reactions at all American game. He was being compared to Westbrook coming out of high school and was known for his court vision, assists and able to play above the rim. I'm going to weight and see how he performs before judgement. i think a little to fancy on assists but Scouts where raving about it at All star game.
