Comcast BUYS Time Warner Cable

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Yeah rumors, but nothing concrete. Charter also isn't getting Brighthouse now, because the Comcast/TWC deal had to happen first.

And I just don't see it happening now. Because charter + TWC + brighthouse would be bigger than Comcast. Once again creating another monopoly that I see the gov't getting pissy about too.

The days of big cable are dying, and they're just scrambling to stay relevant at this point.

I don't see how the goverment stopped this. Way to get in the way of the free market!

I mean, monopoly laws exist specifically to prevent situations like this where the biggest company merges with the second biggest company. And as a Time Warner customer with no other options in the building I live in, I'm grateful because Comcast is the only company with worse customer service than Time Warner.

I stopped getting cable TV service a long time ago, but where I live its basically TWC internet or U-Verse if I want broadband. I've tried both and sadly TWC is a much better service for my needs. I'd really like some other options to encourage competition and lower prices, so I'm really glad this didn't happen as it would have gotten even worse. I'm paying ~$90 monthly for 50mbps, but at least its not capped like Comcast would have been. That's kind of absurd, but since I've built everything in my home around having a solid network and fast internet, I'm kind of stuck with it as U-Verse just doesn't offer the speeds I want and those are the only 2 options.
