Damon Jones is Damon Jones

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
jones should be are starter its common since so jones better be a problem until he gets he get the job he desreves. he is so much better then snow and better be a problem, if he would act all cool about being a backup i would have no respect for him.

why do we need Damon to start? It's such a weapon bringing Damon and Mashall off the bench together. That puts more shooters on the court while Z, Hughes and LeBron are getting their rests. If they both started, we'd have all 5 of our scores on the court at once, the flip side is they'll all be resting at once. I think it makes us far more dangerous to bring the scorers in waves.

And Jones is far more than just another JMac. Last year, other than LeBron, we hit 192 three pointers. This year, we are on pace for that total being 421. And Jones rarely plays PG - lately he's been playing SG with LeBron or Snow playing the point while he's on the court.

why do we need Damon to start?

To spread the floor more with an outside threat with our starters... right now we only have Z in there... not enough.

He plays when it counts. Why does he need to start? Brown wants to start out with a defensive mentality and put some pressure on the opposing point guard for at least the first six minutes. If Jones is not getting burned and hittings 3s he'll play when it matters like in the Miami game.

Bottom line: starting DJ sends the wrong message to the rest of the team. Not only would inserting Jones into the starting lineup weaken Mike Brown's authority on how a player addresses playing time issues, it also removes the better defender from the lineup. Defense is the main issue, shooting and spacing on offense is secondary.

Marshall has done a better job rotating on defense than Gooden, and he provides better spacing on offense. If you shakeup the starting lineup, you start at PF.

The solution is and always was starting Marshall. Shooting off the bench and starting. Defense also improves with Donyell in there.

I guess put me down for keeping Marshall on the bench.

I don't agree that he plays better defense then Gooden. I see him as a better help defender but as a man defender he gives up way too many 12 foot bunnies because he sags off his man to keep him from driving around him all night.

I also don't see him being as an effective offensive rebounder as Drew. Drew's ability to get the tough rebound and garbage points are more effective in the starting lineup then they would be coming off the bench.

Give me a few more games where Marshall bangs the boards, brings the spot up J - coupled with driving to the hole and I'll change my mind but until then give me the more consistant Drew as my starter.

Well I am of a differing opinion Ben. Drew has an athletic advantage for sure of Donyell, but he does not utilise it overly effective outside of boarding. Drew is a good rebounder, but the gap between him and Marshall is very minimal.

Considering help defense is the basis of Browns philosphy, I see this as a great boost for the starters, particulary Ilgauskas who has been saddled with ordinary help players on defense in Boozer and Gooden. Its all about making those rotations, so I'll take a less then contested jumper then an open dunk from a missed rotation.

Offensively it is so damn obvious how much help having the offensive game of Marshall out there. Just having that shooter who drags an inside presense out of the paint for Hughes, Ilgauskas and James to take advantage. It'll also finally give Snow some time with a shooter minimising his lack of shot.

To me its one of the no brainers. But Brown and co cannot here me from here.
