Jones may show off different shoes

Sacramento, Calif.- From his high kick to thwart off defenders to his claims of being the best shooter in the world, Damon Jones always has set himself apart from the norm.

Now Jones might be entering a different world. He is in talks to endorse an athletic shoe by the Li-Ning Sporting Goods Company in China. Jones would become the first NBA player to wear the Li-Ning brand.

"They're an awesome company, and they've been great so far," Jones said. "It was a situation where I didn't have a shoe contract coming into the year, and I was searching around, and I felt that being different, as I am, I thought it would be a good move to market myself in a different light."

The company was formed in 1990 by founder Li Ning, an Olympic gymnast. The brand developed into a professional sports goods brand with apparel, footwear and accessory products for basketball, football, tennis and swimming, among other sports. Li-Ning is a major force in the Chinese market. Signing Jones would be a major step in the U.S.

"They felt with my personality and my glamorous looks that I could bring a little pop to the brand," said Jones, who expects his own signature shoe by next season.

Pavlovic's injury:

Cavs forward Sasha Pavlovic will be out for at least three weeks after spraining his left ankle during practice on Monday. :thumbdown

The X-rays were negative. Pavlovic is averaging 1.9 points per game.

College nights:

The Cavs will hold five college nights over the next two months, starting on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Students with a college ID can purchase $35 or $25 seats for only $15. The special discount (one ticket per ID) is good only on the night of the game after 5 p.m. at The Q box office. Seating is based on availability.

The other college night games are: Dec. 15 vs. Denver, Dec. 20 vs. Utah, Jan. 5 vs. Houston and Jan. 10 against New York.

Feast and West:

Drew Gooden ended the Cavs' West Coast trip in style.

Following practice on Monday, Gooden made the hour-and-a-half drive from Sacramento to his hometown of Oakland.

"I got a chance to go back home, and we had a big crab feast," Gooden said. "This was especially a good time to see my family with the holidays coming up."

The NBA has fined numerous players across the league for dress-code violations, on and off the court. Most have been for shorts that hang below the knee. Several Cavs have been warned they are in violation, but so far the league has not issued any fines to them.
