Well, you guys really think he coaches them defense? there are 4 assistant coaches, Blatt doesn't have the time for it.
Tyron Lue is in charge on that department.. why is he even there? why is he being paid so much? because he was an assistant for 3 years or something like that?
The "blame" shouldn't be on Blatt.

Great point. Watch them run Blatt out of town because of this clique. If that happens I will be so turned off.

This is so right it deserves endless likes. People don't understand that the HC basically decides the style of play and rotations and minutes. Then the assistants teach the defense and offense minutiae while the coach oversees it. What's the point of having overpaid assistants if they don't do their job?

It's not like he gets a fresh team with no superstars, players have their habits, players wanna play a certain playstyle.
You can see they are not running his plays all the time, when Delly comes in he takes the offense into his hands and you see him calling plays.

There is not much time to preach or teach defense and offense with the NBA schedule, it's not like in Israel or the euroleague where you have so many days to practice and there aren't really stars or huge egos, no player is taking the game into his hands, the point and minute distribution are all equal.

It's not fair towards Blatt, GM or the players to critisize them/him, I can't imagine how hard it is to enter his shoes, fucking terrifying.
There are glaring holes in the Cavs bench and lineup especially the wing and center, you all know that, how could it be his fault the defense is so bad? you see him basicly giving everything at the sidelines shouting and encouraging, please give him time and don't put the blame on him.

you can see a good HC by how he handles matchups and live game decisions and adjustments.. that being said, I have some question marks there SOMETIMES but he doesn't have much flexibility with the offense and mainly the defense to sustain leads and rest the starters more.

You can't make Love jump 20 inch higher or have longer hands, However, you can teach effort and Blatt is trying to teach them effort.
I hope the Cavs get the C and Wing but in the same time I hope they don't give up too much for it.
Don't forget though, Cavs have 4 other coaches, It's so nice not being critisized because you are an "assistant head coach".

Windhorst keeps planting this seed that LBJ doesn't want Blatt here. Unfortunately it's Windhorst and he hasn't been right in awhile.

http://espn.go.com/blog/cleveland-cavaliers/post/_/id/222/cavaliers-havent-lived-up-to-billing-yet

Actually, I can't remember the last time he was wrong....

EDIT: Anglefan, you disagree? Ok, the last time he was wrong was when he speculated about Kyrie's boot...and all he said was that Kyrie was in a boot. Never speculated on the injury itself.

He was right about Dion going to the bench, he was right about Mike Miller starting, and he was the ONLY person saying these things.

What has Windhorst been wrong about since the season started?

Hope Jackson gets the Sacremento job. He would be terrible here. I get the feeling that if the CAVS go on a losing streak Blatt is done.

He is right about Miller starting......for one night. Then the nights come where he is wrong as Miller is a major defensive liability that makes Waiters look like a defensive stud. Blatt clearly plays favorites and that doesn't abide by me. It hasn't always helped and cost him at times. Lebron imo, may speak up for Dion. Dion has even tried to be a "trooper" since the first Nets game after going through quite a dark period from his undeserved demotion. The guy will make mistakes. Lebron will make mistake. Marion will make mistakes. Every mistake the guy makes, Blatt blow out of the arena. That is playing it like a college coach because you have personal issues with him and his "act". In the NBA you can't let guys "acts" effect your decision making because they all have 'acts'. Windy is quite right imo, in this case. There is still time for Blatt to change. Scrooge changed!

Waiters should be moved back into the starting rotation after whats happened and then we adjust from there depending on the situation. I don't consider Dion part of the "Big 3". The Big 3 are the main dudes. They play 32-40 a night. Waiters is more like a 25-35 a night guy who's role will adjust throughout the game much like AV,TT and Marion. But we aren't even doing that. Instead, we are living off 100% Lebron and that is dangerous.

I doubt he would be axed during the season.

And if there is a replacement at some point it's probably going to Lue.

Every coach plays favorites based on how players are playing in a game. Dion has to earn his minutes through practice and performance. And he deserved his demotion by constantly pouting when other players score because he isn't getting his. He shouldn't care about his play and focus on winning and improving his stock that way, not by trying to shoot step back long 2's

Why did you disagree with my post though? You just said Windhorst was right in predicting that Miller would be starting...I never argued that it was the right thing to do. And neither did Windhorst...he just said that it was what he thought was going to happen. You're arguing against a position that doesn't exist.

Dion deserves everything that has happened to him this season...he has played terribly and his attitude has been even worse.

Dion Waiters: bad attitude and body language, low bbiq, high maintenance, played like trash 3 out of every 4 games this season but occasionally has a good game. There are plenty of players in the NBA who can come off the bench and score just as many points, if not more than him, with a better attitude and a more athletic and physical body to boot.

I can see where Blatt is coming from.

If we cut David Blatt loose, we'll forever regret that decision. If we cut David Blatt loose, then these clowns deserve to play for Mike Brown for eternity.

I'll tell you guys what's happening. The LeBron James/Lue/Damon Jones triangle is very real. Giving Damon Jones unrestricted access was the first awful sign. You DON'T fucking pander to LeBron James, okay Gilbert? I guess you still didn't learn.

REALISTICALLY: Damon Jones adds NOTHING but distraction. He's not a motivational speaker, he's not a coach, he's a fucking crony of LeBron James who now shares the same privileges as the coaches.

Realistically, I can't see David Blatt calling Kevin Love out when he's one of the biggest problems to our defense. Since Love is on this one year deal, nobody is going to correct him like he ought to be corrected. He's a PISS POOR defender who rarely even tries to contest a shot. 4-5 times a game he watches as someone scores a layup in his face. I have never seen Love commit a hard foul in my life.

You can hear it when papa Stan Love comes on the broadcast, Kevin Love does no wrong because he gets you 10/15+ every night. What good is that when teams are like sharks smelling blood in the water when Kevin defends the rim? Zero true accountability from Love, ZERO. As long as he scores and boards, all is supposedly well.

So basically LeBron James is the emperor of this team. LeBron James has won before, so he must know right? WRONG!

Here's my analogy to this: If you had a summer to go and train with your uncle, or train with a drill sergeant, who would you choose? You'd pick the easier of the two people, you'd go train with your uncle. After a whole summer of training, which guy would have you in better condition? The Drill Sergeant, hands down! These rich millionaires don't want to get pushed around, they'd rather be comfy cozy, and the Cavaliers franchise will provide a country club atmosphere for you!

When you give the players power, when you give them loopholes and ways to oust their coach; they're going to pick the path of least resistance. Hollywood actors shouldn't speak on politics, players shouldn't try to play coach.

I feel that David Blatt has been neutered from day 1. They sat Tyronn Lue next to him, they put James and Love on one year contracts; and now we have Damon Jones there to undercut everything, to be the informant to Lue when Bron doesn't like something.

This whole situation REEKS of being fucked. I don't see Love's scoring and rebounding ever saving this team. Maybe 1/10X's Kevin Love's production will be so high that it will negate his piss poor defense.

I'm starting to feel really awful about the direction we're heading in as a franchise. When Blatt is already scrapping the gameplan, when the ball isn't moving like it ought to, when the players have means to undercut their coach; they'll choose the path of least resistance. The ONLY thing that saved Spoelstra was having Pat Riley in his corner. Bron was FORCED to play for Spo and how did that eventually turn out? We have no such figure to back up Blatt, and that's a huge misfortune because Blatt is 10x the coach of Spo, it's just that David Blatt might never get the same chance that Erik Spoelstra got in Miami.

All these premature posts about Blatt being "done"...

This is one of the NBA's biggest problems (second to the fact that it has manufactured a breed of "fans" who follow players and not teams). Instilling such an insecurity into player's and coach's positions that a string of mediocre performances in under 30 games when weighed up against what the NBA public deem to be the "expectation" dictates the likely stunted longevity of said player/coach.

I'm still shocked to see so many of you calling out Blatt. This is a guy who has won everywhere he's been. And heck, no, he hasn't been in the NBA. But here's a news flash: basketball is basketball. Yes, it's played differently (slightly) overseas but the crux of the sport remains the same. And culturally, if you're a winner, a communicator and a born-leader, you carry that with you wherever you go.

There is absolutely zero evidence to support the argument that any other "NBA-caliber" coach can rally this team better than Blatt. We've been through 3 coaches in 4 years and have we seen a considerable adjustment? It seems that with every new chapter, we're left disappointed against our "expectations" for that season (cast your mind back to our playoff aspirations last season).

Even more so and something people seem to forget - Blatt is not a lone wolf out there. He sits beside Tyrone Lue, Jim Boylan, Bret Brielmaier, Larry Drew, and James Posey - all respected NBA names. Now they don't sit around like stunned mullets while watching Blatt call the shots if they think he's making any major errors. They consult him and he consults them. So we're talking about one of the brightest NBA coaching staffs around here.

Point being, this isn't NBA2K15. Shit doesn't happen overnight. Now I know I have my fair share of irrational rants as most of us do, but the reality is that this team is going to take some work. There are some serious holes that need to be filled and some serious chemistry that needs to be increased.

And how do they do that? By showing faith in Blatt as a leader and as a basketball mind and allowing him to steer the ship at it's helm while his crew becomes competent with his message and with one another.

I see a solution here...assuming Griff still has more faith in Blatt than Lue, fire Lue's ass.

Just like any other employer would do if a subordinate was deliberately trying to undercut his boss.

Unfortunately, with them giving Damon Jones all these privileges, I can't see this happening.
